Agreed. Definitely the best looking of the four movies imo. Too bad there is no digibook for this one. The recent steelbook was not the best quality case either.

Both the first and this look equally amazing on high def!

Say uh, did anyone ever saw this movie in theaters? i did when i was 11 as i saw it 6 times and enjoyed it, i even had beach towel, Mcdonalds cups, toys and vehicles, cards (have them in album), soundtrack on CD (still have it), t-shirts, poster, movie magazine, comic adaptation and all that. I even watched and taped the animated show religiously all the time.

I saw it the summer of 1995 when I was 13 and it's definitely one of the better sequels in the superhero genre.

Batman Returns was 1992, and Batman Forever was 1995

Didn't Batman Forever come out in the summer of 1995?

Yeah, sorry about that. It was 92 and I was 10. I saw all four original Batman films in the summers of 89, 92, 95, and 97.

I only saw the Schumacher films theatrically.

(Although tbh, I loved Forever as a kid, mainly because of Jim Carrey.)

When I saw it at the theater, I had mixed feelings about it, since it was not so much the comic book entertainer the first one was, and Batman's character had a very reduced presence compared to the 3 villains. But later I grew to really appreciate it. It does walk a somewhat uneven line between snappy one-liners and psychological incisions into its crazy characters' heads, but yea it's a genuinely ambitious film and did what it did without ever coming across as overly portentous or boring.

I absolutely loved this when I was younger. I watched this a couple of months ago on cable around 1am & found myself rolling my eyes & saying "getouthere" a lot. It was just so silly to me but I couldn't turn it off. I guess I have a love/hate relationship with this one..

Also, I didn't notice this til the last time I saw it, but did Bats kill that henchman he threw over the railing with the bomb & the fire breather?

Hell yeah Batman killed that guy, he killed a sh*t load of Joker's henchmen in the first one too. A kid I used to know hated these first 2 movie's because of this, "Batman never kills" he'd say. Personally I didn't mind, the first movie is one of my all time favorite's.

It's "Forever" in 1995, "Returns" was in 92.

Oh cool Goofnut you saw this on the big screen at 10, did you too ate the cereal and had some stuff and watched the animated show?

Did anyone think the animated show had some Burton influence besides comic influence? i mean Bruce Timm loved the first film and Warner greenlite an animated show based on the film yet Timm wanted to combine the first film with the comics mostly. You can see there are influences from Burton's films like the look/designs of the batmobile/bat-jet, the grappling hook, black costume of Batman, monotone voice changing from Bruce to Batman, Joker's "Rip his lungs out" line, Jack Napier name, Selina looking like Michelle Pfeifer in the first 3 seasons, Penguin looks like Burton's Penguin in the first 3 seasons, Harvey kind of mixed race look, the music score and all that. Even on the 4th and 5th seasons on WB entitled "New Adventures" Catwoman's costume and pasty face design looks straight out of Burton's design.

I do have mixed feelings about "Forever" but i like it in a guilty pleasure kind of way but "Batman and Robin" UGH, i won't even described how much i suffered through that piece of shit when i was 16 in a theater. I'm glad Nolan rebooted the series.

I watched the show, but didn't eat the cereal. When I was a kid I mostly ate Count Chocula cereal until it disappeared. I've been stuck on Raisin Bran ever since.

Yes the BTAS took cues from the films. The most overt being the gothic design and the Burtonesque deep blacks. They did their storyboards and animation from black instead of the standard white foundation. Check the commentaries.

The script for Returns was written by Daniel Walters, the writer of Heathers. He had a real flair for black comedy and clever dialogue.

Many of us regard Returns as the favorite, but as a Batman fan the one glaring flaw of this movie is Bruce Wayne revealing his identity.

You can complain about the mutated Penguin idea, or the Catwoman ressurection scenario, but that one moment in that film was some bullshit.

And I didnt like the remix in Batman & Robin or Forever, when he yelled his identity in the circus crowd.

Penguin as a freak was quite different yet i kind of liked it with a different perspective on the character. And did you thought Devito was terrific as Penguin? he's almost as good as Burgess Merideth and Paul Williams.

But what do you think of the Selina Kyle and Penguin designs on the first 3 seasons of TAS?

BATMAN RETURNS is one of my favorite Batman films... until the new ones came, it was my all time favorite. Dark, great characters, visually stunning throughout.. great flick!

Devito did a great Penguin. I prefer the low key Gotham gangster w/ version, but the Blueblood mutant remix was cool for that version.

Selina Kyle as Selina or the Catwoman spandex costume design?

Mediocre....I actually prefer the all black costume of the latter seasons. But she looked less human though...

As for the Penguin...

I prefer the more human upright version.
