New production video coming soon! Peter Jackson’s daughter Katie Jackson indicated on her Twitter account on June 9 that “the next Hobbit production vlog will be up within the next 2 weeks”. So it seems we’ll have more to chew over by June 23 at the latest. .

I disagree. And he never said he was young. I think a classic like LOTR is a great start. One of the first novels I remember reading was Knightfall when I was nine. The things Bane did to those hookers... and the racist guy at the end... what's wrong with LOTR? And he's starting with The Hobbit anyway. A children's book. P.S. Joey Jordison rocks, hard! |

When Tolkien starts getting into the color and texture of grass in Middle Earth, it's time to skip a couple paragraphs and get on with the story... ![]() |

I would hardly label The Hobbit (and the rest of LOTR mythology) as a "children's" story. It's riddled with too much violence and plot, and the books are WAY too advanced for a child. It's - at best - a young adult story. |

It gets so good! Fellowship took me months to get through all those chapters on cooking and trees and ugh... Tom Bombadil (glad he hasn't shown up in four films), Towers took me a month, and Return took a week! You gotta do it! |

We used to watch cartoon characters literally kill each other. Once I saw an animated cat put a gun to his head because he was sick of the mouse getting the best of him. Times change. I doubt that Groge511 is a kid anyway. Or a young adult. Let's let him read his fantastic book, already? We don't have to recommend a bunch of Spot titles to him before he starts. Lol. He owns Scarface... I think he'll be fine with The Hobbit... |

Regarding reading LOTR: I first read it when I was 10 and a budding D&D player/computer geek (1981). I couldn't get enough of it. I was LOST in that beautifully detailed world. It fired my imagination like nothing I ever read before. The experience isn't just the story, but the telling of it.
![]() As far as this latest Hobbit trailer... I really liked the first movie (didn't love it, but came away with a generally positive feeling) but I can't seem to muster much excitement over this new footage. It's a "more of the same" feeling that engenders little more than humdrummery. Still, I'll be there to watch it opening weekend. I enjoy Indian women. |

I think when leey said "young" i think he meant "un-experienced" reader. But to clarify with everyone I'm 22 and I'm managing The Hobbit just fine thank you! :P
Yes i don't read very often but i do like reading a book when i know i like the film (or tv show) as this way i know what I'm getting into. I relate more to the visual media i would say |

And I don't understand everyone at all. Maybe they had trouble reading the books, but The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings are children's books. Hence the reason most people (and I'm not dissing on you for not getting around to it earlier) read them in primary school, or early high school. My parents bought me a Michael Chrichton book last Christmas. WAY above my reading level, and I do enjoy hard sci-fi. I just won third place in a hard sci-fi short story writing competition. I remember attempting Jurassic Park when I was eight... and I am really emphasizing "attempting"! That guy is way too smart to be writing fiction and needs to start writing scientific essays or something... |
