read that article...10 minutes for a 4 gig HD movie....not quite the 50 gigs that a blu-ray has.... this is why downloads won't work. terrible quality and $150 a month for internet service which with comcast will go up 300% in the next year.

Fifty bucks more for businesses is pretty good. At my business I'm stuck with AT&T DSL @ 6mbps down and like 528 up for thirty bucks a month more than my 20 down/5 up I get at home. And that was cheap compared to the cable internet I looked into which was pretty close to the prices they're talking about here.

My broadband is plenty fast ( & to F-ing expensive as it is ).....screw 150$ a month for INTERNET service. I'd rather have NO service...I'm not going to DL any movies anyway...

Ya. Wow. I never even thought of it that way. ANd just to get it straight, it's $150 for just the internet right? then like a few bucks more for each movie.


And I'm very scared of a 4GB HD movie. I'd rather buy an HD-DVD player.

That's really downloads biggest problem. By the time we'll be able to download 50GB in 10-30 minutes at a reasonable price range, we'll be watching (or at least be on the verge of watching) whatever comes after Blu and will be even bigger.

Actually it is if you use it too much to download too many movies they cut you off as an abuser, but won't tell you how much is "too much".

Assuming an optimistic annual $1800 cost for this Comcast offer, you could instead get a $400 br player and $1400 in br movies for the year?! That's about 40 medium priced hd movies, or just under 1 movie per week. I don't think even the studios could keep pace with that with new releases worth buying.

Does anyone wonder if this is the digital download nirvana many hdvd diehards expected as they pass on br because there is no 2.0 player for $200 or less? Every one of them who doesn't sign up with Comcast for this wonderful path into the future should be forced to eat some very stale, dirty crow.
