SO RITE NOW I HAVE A SANYO 32 LCD (YEAH I WAS ON A BUDGET...).
I WAS THINKING OF BUYING A NEW TELEVISION FOR MY BEDROOM. MY CHOICE IS NARROWED BETWEEN A 37 SAMSUNG 1080p LCD OR A 32 SAMSUNG 720p LCD. THE REASON FOR THE 32 IS BECAUSE MY STAND WILL NOT HOLD BIGGER THAN A 32 ON TOP BUT A 40 ON BOTTOM AND I HAVE MY TV ON TOP. ANY OTHER TELEVISIONS I MIGHT BE FORGETTING? I ALSO HAVE A 10% BB COUPON SO I WILL BE GOING 2 BEST BUY... |

A friend of mine got a Samsung, and for whatever the reason detail was much worse then on my tv, and black level was a problem, which is very noticeable when I tried to calibrate it with the DVE disc.
Don't know about the specs, but just my two cents. I have a sony sxrd. I would personally go with a sony bravia xbr, or a panasonic plasma. Those are more expensive though, but you'll probably be happier with it. Edit: I did not notice you need such a small size, I don't even think they make the above that small. with a smaller tv it is much harder to tell the difference between tvs. You also will not notice the difference between 720p, and 1080p at that size, so I say go with the 720 to save some cash. We ended up getting a 40" 720P Samsung LCD for our exercise room due to recommendations on Consumer Reports. It's ok, but I'm not too thrilled with the picture quality (nowhere near that of our 720p Panasonic plasma). You can see a lot of motion blur in very simple scenes (not even sports or other types of fast action) but it works fine for just watching while exercising.

The latest ratings I've seen from consumer reports show the following 37" LCDs as the top 3:
LG 37LB5D Olevia 537H Insignia NS-LCD37 The LG is a pretty big jump in price over the Olevia and Insignia as it's a 1080p model, but with a 37" screen you shouldn't be able to tell much difference for the price (just from a resolution standpoint). Hope this helps. |

The last bunch of 37" LCD's from Vizio tested by Gary Merson all failed de-interlacing tests.
The Sharp LC37D62U is 37", 1080p, passes de-interlacing tests using HDMI, fails them with component. If you're using HDMI it's a good set. It passes 3:2 tests as well when you set film mode to ON in the advanced user menu. The Sony KDF37H1000 is 37" 720p, it passes both deinterlacing and 3:2 tests. |

I've got 3 Samsungs (see sig) and I've never had any problems and find them all to be excellent. If you go to review sites Samsungs seem to be among the best, particularly those under 40". I had never bought a Samsung prior to my first HDTV but I've been happy enough with the quality that I keep buying more. If you're only talking a 32" I wouldn't worry about 1080p, my 32" is only 720p but I can't tell a difference between it and my larger, 1080p sets.
