I believe wholeheartedly that life has evolved on planets other than Earth. Whether they look like us or not, who's to say? But just because Hollywood says all alien life are reptilian creatures with big eyes and slick skin, doesn't mean that's the case.

We evolved into human beings here on Earth, there is no reason to discount the chance that other creatures on other planets have evolved to a similar form. Maybe there are lifeforms out there that have evolved far past the point we currently are, maybe not. The only fact here, is that we don't really know, so complaining about the way alien lifeforms look in film doesn't really work, because they could be spot on just as well as they could be terribly wrong.

In the end, though, it's a science-fiction movie, so there really isn't need to complain about having to suspend your belief.
I used the word "fact" very loosely, as we say in ordinary conversation. I wasn't stating it as fact in Bold Letters.
Ok, and I wasn't complaining either, its just that there were too many movies in the 80s and nineties regarding malevolent alien beings that more or less looked the same, and most of them were bent on World domination/destruction! These things, especially popular entertainments, have subliminal impacts on our mind(everything does more or less) that shape our outlook or thoughts whether we like it or not. There weren't as many popular movies which showed benevolent extraterrestrials, as there were movies that portrayed them as monsters. I mean we really don't have to look to the stars to find an answer- Just as all human beings are not evil, similarly all aliens aren't evil either. There needs to be more filmmakers who deal with this dualism, rather than a unidimensional portrait. There has been a slew of Alien invasion movies recently, I'm personally quite exausted with them.
Anyway this is just my opinion!

Anybody with the deluxe soundtrack know if the track "Earth" was used in the movie?

I can't wait to see all the new mash-ups on Youtube that pop up after BD release.

This movie isnt dark. The Dark Knight is dark. This is not dark. Some people just want their Superman to be a grown boyscout that saves cats from trees. Others prefer the Disney Marvel take on comic book movies. Why not just accept it as a different take on the character? I didnt prefer the spin Nolan put on Batman in Batman Begins, I thought Christain Bale wasnt an ideal choice for Bruce Wayne or Batman. I thought The Dark Knight was closer to a horror movie then a Super hero movie. But that never stopped me from enjoying the films for what they were. I accepted it as just a different take on the character.
I think people have been saying exactly what you said about Batman Begins. They didn't prefer the spin Snyder put on Superman. That's it.

By the way, thanks to everyone for responding to my earlier post in a civil, thought out manner.

Unfortunately, I'm on my phone and don't have a lot of time atm. Will try and respond later.

So's your post. I'm pretty sure the post was getting at the fact that the film itself was too repetitive, not that the film is repetitive within the genre. Plus I don't get why you have to defend the movie so hard, it's not like a lousy hollow post like the one above is really going to offend or hurt anyone, you could of just let it slide and fade away into obscurity.

I know. If someone gives their opinion on what they didn't like about the movie - not sure why some folks act like their mother just got slapped.

Nobody is right here. It's just preference and opinion. I like having movie discussions and even debates - this movie or any movie does not warrant an "argument". Discussing film really gets annoying when people start getting defensive or presenting their opinions/preferences as somehow holding more weight than others. Gets old real quick and usually results in everyone simply leaving the conversation, which is a real bummer.

wasn't the quote that if the first aliens we meet don't have pointed ears or bumps on their foreheads, we won't believe it?

I can understand why people don't like this. take a dog for example - different breeds look different(so do foxes, wolves, etc which are all related) so people would assume that an alien, even if it was humanoid, would have something different to it when compared to people - different skin tone, webbed fingers, etc. not entirely unreasonable. granted, the differences could be more internal than external but the complaint is understandable. however, this is a Superman film - he has been around for decades and has always looked human so you can't really complain that he doesn't seem alien enough here.

And the bad thing is, we're both going to get told we're wrong despite the fact we both liked the film.

I'm with you two. These people act like it's a personal attack on them when someone criticizes the film. They need to grow up. I liked the film, and love hearing opposing opinions as long as they have a reason, and not a motive, if you get what I'm saying.

So here's a question that's been bugging me. It may have been addressed already but I didn't find it. This part of the plot doesn't make sense...

[Show spoiler]
When Superman is taken to the Kryptonian ship, He has a pretty rough time getting used to the Kryptonian atmosphere. When he does get used to it, he's lost all the effects of earth's atmosphere (He's got no powers).

The Kryptonian soldiers running around earth in their suits have masks that keep them in Kryptonian atmosphere. When their masks get broken then they start getting all the effects of earth's atmosphere at once.

SO...

Shouldn't the Kryptonians have had no powers (strength or speed) while they were wearing their masks? How is it that they were able to acquire the strength and speed of Superman while still wearing the masks? And why did the other powers all kick in when the masks were broken?

HELP?

I guess
[Show spoiler]it's a bit like John Carter. The gravity on Earth is much lighter than that of Krypton. Thus the Kryptonians, are able to much more faster and use their mass more effectively because their bodies are used to Krypton's gravity. As for the rest of the powers, the yellow sun rays amplify their abilities and even grant them new ones like Clark has. The sun of Krypton was much older, thus didn't grant them any of their powers on their own planet, but Earth's sun is much younger, and the rays have a very powerful effect on Kryptonians, hence Clark's powers.

Not sure if it's 100% accurate but I think that's how it works.

It's fan made. I like it, but I loved what they did to the WB logo in the official.
