Wow, this is fantastic news. There were many bonus discs with the DVDs - each volume came with it's own bonus disc, so then would it be correct to think that the bonus disc here will be a blu-ray in order to hold all the content from each of those DVD bonus discs?

Yeah, I agree this is the ideal way to get the series. I do still have some Battle of the Planets episodes on DVD though, and I do enjoy them in their own way. Even though 7-Zark-7 is goofy I still gotta love him because I grew up with him, and I think the voice acting was excellent in Battle of the Planets. Plus the additional music by Hoyt Curtin for the series was awesome - that opening theme was triumphant.

Wow... just.. wow. I loved these as a kid, and I have the complete BATTLE OF THE PLANETS dvd set from the UK and still get a kick out of them, but.. (shakes head, LOL) the lengths this show went to ensure a happy ending. On top of that, 7-Zark-7 wants some!? How inappropriate!

Unfortunately, I think he would feel otherwise if he ever met Susan in person:

Hey 7! There's a reason she's on Pluto!

Oh yes! Can't wait for this. Day 1 purchase for me. I used to own these on DVD, but lost them when my collection was stolen about 5 years ago and was never able to get another copy...

The original Sandy Frank dubs are currently in licencing hell after Sandy Frank lost the rights to those dubs.
Thanks DU.

Just judging from the specs on the first post of this thread, the OVA's and the bonus features are together for disc 14, meaning that this can either go two ways: the bonus disc can be a DVD with the OVA's plus extras or it can be a Blu-ray. It's also worth pointing out that a separate OVA Collection will exclusive for DVD only according to RightStuf and is coming out the same day like the DVD and Blu-ray complete series:

http://www.rightstuf.com/1-800-338-6...em/98788/4/0/0

However, it's worth pointing out that the separate OVA Collection has a new audio commentary but none of the ADV extras, so the likelihood of it being Blu-ray is high. I guess we'll have to find out once it comes out.

Sorry to hear about that. I had many VHS tapes stolen from me way back, and it hurt. A friend of mine had most of his DVD collection stolen a few years ago. It's an awful thing because it's really hard to rebuild back a nice collection, plus you somehow feel empty that somebody got a collection you hold so close to you.

I see that the list price is $150 and the current sale price is $130. I don't buy anime so I'm not familiar with pricing. Is it likely this set drops to $100 or below at some point?

'GATCHAMAN' was a HUGE hit here in Italy.

The Italian theme was a masterpiece.

Judge for yourself:

It was confirmed over on fandompost.com that all discs in the Blu-ray set are Blu-rays.

Wow, that's about $0.86 per episode (excluding the OVA)!

Not sure if I trust Rightstuf. What's their return policy? I'd prefer buying from Amazon and hope they lower the price before release date I think.

RightStuf is a great place to buy to purchase anime, they ship very quickly, have great customer service and have great prices. Also, if you preorder anime from them, they would ship it weeks in advance before release day. The return polity is here:

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/cust...Authorization/

Also on the side note, Sentai Filmworks acquired 10 more anime from Tatsunoko Productions. My guess is that they're the ones with the Blu-ray remasters like Gatchaman as we saw in that trailer:

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...oko-production

One of them is the original Casshern, the other ones haven't been announced. I'm hoping that Speed Racer is one of them.
