I have heard the current Blu-ray is disapointing in terms of technical specs, average sound etc. But for the movie it self, I was hooked, really brought me in to the universe. The kryptonite Island was for it's time quite epic, and I thought kevin spacey was very good, I've mentioned this here before but I thought Parker Posey would be my preference for Lois Lane, had a maturity about her performance, i thought she was great.
technically, I had no issues with the pacing or the action. |

a horrible horrible horrible portrayal of superman and to have tried to tie it to the original donner/lester films was a great idea but how they portrayed superman in returns made the tying to the originals a mockery
they should burn all prints of it |

This is where I disagree. I think that's the problem I had with this film. IMO, whenever you take on a project of a super hero or character that's been done before, it's time to take it into a new direction. The Donner/Lester films had its day. With all the well written Superman comic books, there were tons of stories to choose from to keep our favorite super hero relevant, up to the times and awesome. I know I probably wouldn't last in Hollywood but if I were given a project of something significant, that has been done before, the only way I would approach it is in a different direction. Put a spin on it and if the audience doesn't like it, so be it but at least I could go home knowing I tried to do something different, something that had not been done before. That's what disappointed me about Superman Returns. |
