Dude.. April fools was last week.

Edit: Oh wait.. I just checked it out.. it is for real.. I do think that there will be major implementation issues and routing to residential homes... etc.. but its exciting. I wouldn't mind having it now..

I still would want my own storage devices though and physical media for all things I view as collectable. the idea of storing my information on someone elses server is just not something I will go for in this lifetime.. way to big brother/skynet/comunist style.

well it will be a while before everyone has access to this, so I wouldn't count on digital downloads just yet.

There is still a lot more to do before this can become a reality for everybody. New backbone pipes, probably new cables down the street and to houses. Just getting the backbones up to this new standard would take lots of money and lots of time.

I'm sure something like this is coming, but the capital outlays required are huge and will take a while to come about and then the companies are going to have to be able to recoup the money they spent so that means you will see a huge price spike which people may or may not be willing to pay - something like the new Comcast 50meg service for $150/month.

This is neat stuff, but years away from being ready for the average household.

$150 per month for 0 movie downloads. At one movie rental a day, the cost per rental is $5 just for to cover the Internet service.

Microsoft and its minions have forgotten the cost of the Internet service part when they declare physical discs dead.
