Mine are at home where I can't give an exact measurement right now but it's probably around 6 inches long. Accounting for depth & perspective it's probably almost to scale in that picture compared to the SteelBook.

I believe only the top of the saucer is die-cast metal. That's what someone on my toy forum said but I haven't opened mine up yet. The nacelles are obviously plastic, and they don't even have any printed detailing on them, just flat gray plastic. And the nacelle tips are soft rubber presumably for safety. The black detailing is printed on. I will say it looks nicer in person than I expected it to, but it's also obviously not a high quality replica.

On both counts, you are right. Pretty good scale with that tiny Enterprise, but also that tiny Enterprise is impossible to find in stores.

That might be a good thing actually. It's usually poor packing and handling that destroy the SteelBooks. This will likely demand a huge added cushion around every one.

yea I have searched everywhere on walmart's site and can't find an answer...other forums seem to have mixed answers...

That's an awesome looking steelbook! Day one for me!! I'm starting to become a Trekkie. And I loved this movie! And why doesn't even include the 3d version since the gi joe retailation steelbook does?? I really don't get it.

I just pre-ordered this. But it says it won't be shipping until 12/31/13, arriving by 1/9/14. That's a long time to wait...

I'm pretty sure that's just a "filler date". It will change shortly, I would imagine.

I believe Sept 23rd is the date of my Phaser edition from Amazon...and because Walmart charges right away I'm going to have to gamble and wait until August if I want to order this...however I'm also hoping Zavvi gets a version too that'll match the black face steel, perhaps with Cumberbatch and Dr. McCoy...

Edit: It's September 10th for the release date

I am also guessing that the 39.99 price will still go down on release day.
