DTS Master or Dobly TrueHD

So can players extract a standard DD 5.1 track from DD TrueHD, like they can extract a DTS track from DTS HD MA? If so, I'd prefer DD TrueHD just because DD sounds so much better than DTS on my amp. I think this is because my amp can only compress the dynamic range for DD audio not DTS, and I find the dynamic range of DTS excessive, with much of it either too quiet or too loud.

If I bought a more modern amp / receiver (mine is a denon avr 3802), do they all nowadays tend to have the ability to compress the dynamic range of DTS audio?
