The PS3 can decode Dts HD and lossless with a firmware upgrade that is in the works. It cannot pass the bitstream on to the receiver, it does not have the right chipset to do so. What is supposed to happen when there are secondary audio streams? All are sent to the receiver for decoding and mixing or only the primary?

In-player decoding is the way to get the intended mixing, that is for sure.
