Default onkyo 605 and PS3 FW 2.30

From blog.us.playstation.com:
[QUOTE]
I have more good news to report today - the system software update will also add DTS-HD Master Audio output for Blu-ray videos, which means the high-definition visuals of Blu-ray will now be matched with the highest quality audio for the ultimate movie-watching experience on PS3.

DTS-HD Master Audio is literally bit-for-bit identical to the studio master recording and makes movie soundtracks and sound effects truly come to life. The technology delivers audio at the incredibly high rate of 24.5 mega-bits per second (Mbps) on Blu-ray disc, which is significantly higher than standard DVDs. DTS-HD Master Audio also offers 7.1 audio channels at 96k sampling frequency/24 bit depths, so you'll be totally immersed in the sound. The firmware update will add DTS-HD High Resolution Audio as well, which is a similar output technology that requires less disc space.

A lot of you, particularly the home theatre enthusiasts and audiophiles out there, have been asking us for this capability, and we can't wait until you have an opportunity to pop in a compatible Blu-ray video to test it out for yourself.

I'm wondering what this means for me, I have a Onkyo 605 and according to Onkyo (http://www.onkyousa.com/model.cfm?cl...m=TX-SR605&p=i)
it supports DTS-HD Master... Do all blu-rays have DTS-HD Master sound or just some? Is the article saying they are just adding a new sound output option?

what it means to you is that it will work just like true hd. your recevier will display multi channel and receiver the pcm signal from dts ma. you will still not being using the decoding of the receiver using the ps3.

mostly fox titles have dts ma

Yes, you will notice an upgrade on Fox titles and titles like Kingdom of Heaven.

DTS-HD Master Audio is literally bit-for-bit identical to the studio master recording and makes movie soundtracks and sound effects truly come to life. It means that if you have your PS3 hooked up to your 605 with HDMI, you will be able to hear the sweet sound of DTS-MA , which is on par with Dolby True HD and Uncompressed PCM. Make sure you set your pS3's audio output to Linear PCM. The back of BD display cases tell you what audio tracks it has.

you will mostly notice better sound coming from the titles that contain dts ma where as before you were only getting dts 5.1
