I was a big fan of Street Fighter II at the time of the release, this film didn't do Street Fighter any justice. As a fun JCVD film yes it's watchable.

I know desert heat is released on Blu-ray and is apparently an upscale but is Knock Off? I would say after Maximum Risk his films started to dip in quality.
I did like Inferno, Replicant and in hell though.

I will likely end up owning almost all of JCVD films on Blu! I remember not liking Knock off and Double Team.

lol, I will too. He and Arnold are my two actors that I'll own EVERYTHING , no matter how mediocre.

Knock off and Double team were some of my favorite of his DTV stuff. Knock off had some fun choreography, it was his closest to feeling like a hong kong movie.

It looks like an up scaled DVD. How crap is that. Wish I hadn't bothered now and just kept the DVD.
Having just watched my disc, I find it hard to believe we're talking about the same disc. Sure, some of the film was sloppily shot, and there are a few muddy shots here and there (the first one, for instance), but overall this is clearly a native HD transfer. Not the best HD material around, but definitely not an "upscale" and blows any DVD out of the water.

The only "faults" I could find with this disc were some unsynchronised dialogue in the first few minutes, and the fact that the subs for the spoken chinese was German only.

I agree, it's the charisma behind the actors that make the films watchable. Steven Seagal unfortunately lost that years ago.

he lost all his charisma when he gained all his weight ... the man's DTV stuff is nigh unwatchable. at least Dolph Lundgren is still entertaining

yeah, Dolph is the man. both him and Van Damme in Expendables II really shone. that was the first time I'd seen Van Damme with that much charisma and spark in him. it was like seeing the Van Damme of old instead of the worn out gritty characters he's been playing in the last 8 or so of his films

Speaking of Seagal, look at his expression @ 0:44 in this clip. Hilarious! He really believes in it himself!

Van Damme had some really good lines in Expendables 2 and delivered them well, he also got in great shape. His newer films made him come off as tired, I am hoping he comes back for EX3.

Is Steven Seagal still "dangerous"? - YouTube
That is funny, he uses some many camera tricks, slow motion shots and stunt doubles now it's just laughable.

yeah, "tired" is the best way to describe him lately. Expendables II was the first time I'd seen that old "spark" that he used to have (though I still like his new stuff too)
