I guess I need to look and see what the differences are between this deluxe edition and the original 2 releases.

I wasn't going to buy the deluxe edition, but for a steelbook <$25 and I'm sure I can trade/sell the original discs for a little bit of that back... I might bite on this.

Simply put, the Deluxe Edition is a "supercut," if you will, of both films cut into one feature length movie, and it comes packed with all of the original features, some additional featurettes, I believe, and a Frank Miller commentary. It's definitely worth the upgrade, IMO.

What's going on with the peel-away corner in the picture?

That is how DC does their logo now, like you are turning the page. I don't care for it, their last one was perfectly fine.

I haven't seen that in the US anywhere yet? But I see the French Batman/Returns/Forever/Robin steelbooks have the same thing. So that is seriously just part of the painted artwork? Completely ruining the entire aesthetic?

I told myself I wasn't going to double dip since I have the separate releases but I can't say not to a steelbook plus it has new special features

The old logo was great but it was discovered that someone else owned the design rights to it, so DC Comics switched to this new logo when they launched their new comics universe in 2011. The new logo only works in motion, on film or television product.

The only thing I disliked about these blu-rays is that cover art should have been related to the art in the movie. Though this versions cover is the best of the 3.

I don't mind the logo itself (just the DC part with the D peeling away):

[Show spoiler]

Putting that nice and small in the corner, fine. What I don't understand is making it look like the cover art itself is peeling back, by a relatively HUGE amount, to show the already-peeling logo. How many layers of peeling do we need here? BRAAAAAAAM. Peelception.
