possibly a very stupid question so bear with me... i just don't understand why strike back season one was just $14 something about 15 minutes ago on amazon and now it's $28. i learned about the sale here because it was showing on the best blu ray deals section on top. i don't really shop at amazon and i was planning to go to best buy to have them price match it but i guess the sale is over! and yeah, i'm still broke but have a remaining bby certificate that i was hoping to use to buy it.

that's stupid! if they're going to put an item on sale, they need to at least keep the sale price for a day. i could have went to best buy and make a fool of myself knowing about the sale and not seeing it once i'm at the store.

That's their thing. They want you to buy from Amazon themselves and not go to their competitor to buy things at their prices.

It's just smart on their part or for any business really. That's just like if someone asked you to match someone else sales price on here.

you're obviously a fan of amazon. think of it this way though... you could be buying the item already on amazon and before you finish purchasing the item, the price all of a sudden changes. amazon should at least inform its customers of a time frame instead of making people guess all the time.

Actually no I'm not. I like buying stuff in stores. I'm just saying people wanna get the best deals. And that's just the thing when you buy online.

Yeah I don't think it should be legal for paperback textbooks to be so expensive. Especially for kids that are already in debt and have a hard enough time affording tuition. My friend told me that he couldn't even sell them for half of what he bought them. I might try to sell them to other students for a reasonable price. We'll see.

To answer Jett's question, I rented one of my books from Chegg but my other instructors demanded that we buy them.

i know that most schools have programs that could help qualified students get discounts on books and supplies; the sad thing is that not a lot of students are aware of these programs. back then, i got discounts on my books but i remember still paying $200 just for one book. you should check with your financial aid office if there's a separate program that helps students get discounts on books and other things not covered by financial aid.

Messed up teacher if you ask me. Every teacher I have had encourages all the students to not buy from the college bookstore, and to get the best deal possible. Too bad all teachers aren't like that.

I'm thinking about how much of an awesome time I'm having at College now. I've been talking to a bunch of new people, making new friends, and just having a lot of fun. I've been getting more and more social, I absolutely love it! I don't really like my roommate though. He is very anti-social even though I have been trying to get him to hang out or come out to the events, he never comes. I don't get it, it feels like I'm living alone lol. I have seen him a total of 3 times since I met him on Sunday.

Well, they sometimes fulfill items from marketplace sellers and they will be cheaper or higher depending on the stock level. For example, lets say amazon had just one set of Season 1 in stock directly from Amazon. While you are looking around someone comes along and buys it. They will next go to fulfillment items that may be priced considerably higher. It isn't Amazons fault, its just how it works when Amazon has no more stock. Or it could have been a lightning deal and you missed the window.

That's great, I'm glad you're having a fantastic time now! I'm sure your roommate is just shy like you said you were before back home.

i'd tell that instructor to either eff off or pay for the book for you; that's some bs right there. they can't make you purchase a book. you can rent it if you want. as long as you don't acquire it illegally, it doesn't matter how you get it.

when i was at jsu i was really lucky. i had my tuition, books, fees and even a meal card paid for.....100%. i even got a monthly living allowance to go along with it of almost $400. that allowed me to pay off my vehicle 2 years early (way back then...'89-'91).

and i firmly believe that all purchased/rented textbooks should be tax deductible. they go towards an education that, in turn, will (hopefully) get you a good job/career. and that would allow them to take out more taxes depending on your pay.
