I actually think Romo will have a good season and the Cowboys will win that division this year... we'll see.
Jake Locker is not as bad as some people seem to think he is BUT QB is one of the hardest positions in the NFL to evaluate, even after years of evidence pointing either way. The best thing to do for him is probably give him at least a few years of stability with his QB coach, receivers, offensive line, offensive system and running game. QBs have probably the hardest job in the game that takes place on the field, especially when they're relatively new to the game so the best thing to do is ease their transition. That's a huge part of the reason I'm always at least moderately surprised when people predict a stud college QB that gets drafted early to do well in their NFL careers since chances are they're going to one of the worst teams in the NFL, a situation that has broken down lots of QBs over the years.

Exactly... I agree with that completely.

I have higher hopes for Jake this season due to the fact that he's healthy and our OL has been completely revamped. Unless he's flat out awful this season, I would like him to get one more shot with us in 2014. Then move on if he's not improving.

He has actually looked great in preseason IMO. Very accurate for the most part.

We cut Leinart this afternoon. You have to think that might be it for him, he looked pretty lost last night. I also expect Kolb to either be put on IR or be given an injury settlement before tomorrow evening's deadline.

They're going to finish 2nd in that awful division. That's for sure. If Tannehill takes a step forward they could give the Pats a run for their money, but I can't bet against Brady.

I see the Dolphins at 9-7 which might be good enough for a wildcard.

But see, I view that team in a similar way I view the Titans this season... major improvements in many areas, and the team's success will be determined by a young QB's performance.

There were four new playoff teams last season... there will always be a couple of surprise teams. With the AFC as weak as it is, there's no reason one of them can't be the Titans IMO. I'm not saying I'm anticipating playoffs, but if we don't make it, it's time for Munchak and the entire coaching staff to GTFO.

Let's take a look at a couple of NFL QBs in their first 11 starts...

QB #1
-- 2-9 record
-- 16.1 PPG
-- Average margin of defeat: 11 points (average loss of 27-16)
-- 223/407 (54.8%), 2453 yards, 17 TD, 22 INT, 6.2 avg, 64.2 passer rating

QB #2
-- 4-7 record
-- 19.5 PPG
-- Average margin of defeat: 9 points (average loss of 28-19)
-- 177/314 (56.4%), 2176 yards, 10 TD, 11 INT, 6.9 avg, 74 passer rating

Which one do you think is Jake Locker? Can you take a stab at who the other might be? I'll give you a hint... one of the greatest QBs to ever play the game, and he's still in the league.

Couldn't be further from the truth. CJ has a massive ego. He wants to be the best ever. He cares. How you can dispute the fact that only one player in the history of the NFL (Emmitt Smith - the NFL's all time leading rusher) had more yards in their first 5 seasons in the league than CJ is beyond me.

Two things are clear to me. 1) You guys have rarely seen the Titans play and make judgments based off stats alone. 2) You guys are totally unaware of what additions our team has made and just how bad our OL was last year.

Some of the baseless opinions I'm hearing are perfect examples of why the Titans have been and always will be one of the most hated, overlooked teams in the NFL due to being in a small market... either way, since 1999 when we became the Titans we rank 7th in the NFL in wins. Not too shabby.

I love all the hate, guys! Keep it coming!
Who are the two players you mention above? If you're talking about QB's from 20+ years ago you're comparing apples and oranges. QB's decades ago were considered great if hey had a QB rating of 75 or 80. Today even a mediocre starter can put up those numbers. I suppose one of them you mention is Peyton Manning, but Manning's numbers took a big leap in year 2.

Yea QB #1 is Peyton. QB #2 is Locker.

This upcoming season is going to be Locker's second year as a starter... so we'll see.

I just find it interesting that Locker was better in almost every single QB statistical category than Peyton was in his first 11 starts, but everyone considers Jake as one of the worst QBs in the NFL... They're writing him off after 11 starts (in which he had no pass protection, no run game, and no defense to help him out). That's unheard of.

I hope he can prove the haters wrong.

Let's see:

A botched snap.

Patrick Crayton drops a potential game winning wide-open TD pass in the end zone against the Giants.

Dallas gets destroyed by a significantly better Minnesota team, who seriously exposed Dallas' O-line and it just got worse when they knocked one out of the game to injury.

Those are his 3 post-season losses. Romo didn't play great in any of them, but it's hard to call it a choke when he had them in a position to win two of them and got destroyed in the last.

Where he chokes is in the regular season trying to get them to the postseason. He hasn't really been to the postseason enough to call him a choker there. heh.

*EDIT* FWIW I don't think the Cowboys make the post-season. I picture them at 7-9 at best (after all, JJones and Romo say they aren't an 8-8 team!)

Wouldn't completely shock me. They have the talent to pull off an upset or two in the playoffs.

Here we go again. Before every season people think the Cowboys are going to win the division. And each year, without fail, they don't.

Really? He's a decent QB. And as we saw last season a merely decent QB can get hot at the right time and win a Super Bowl.

Every year people think the Giants, Eagles, and Redskins are going to win the division too.

And every year, without fail, 3 of them don't.

The NFC East tends to be a crap shoot, so this isn't surprising. The last 4 years have had different champs.

If you are talking about Experts, last year they were all over the Giants, the prior year the experts all seemed to pick the Eagles.

I agree a decent QB can get hot come playoffs like Flacco did. Even though i think flacco is a ok QB..i see him being better then Dalton. Dalton is just too inconsistent for me to believe he can make the AFC champ game. Their D will be very good this year...but i think their running game won't be that great this year

I see them winning that division this year and probably win the first game. But i have a feeling they would then have to go to NE or Denver and i don't think that will end up well if that's the case
