So... is the 3D even going to be mediocre? Apparently they used the same conversion method as Jumper and I, Robot which is a shame.

It's potato potah-to. Where I liked both I,robot and Jumper others hated it. It's the same back catalog release plan from the same company with the same conversion methods. I think they're getting better, Jumper trumped Robot, but going out on a limb I'll go ahead and say if you thought both latter conversion titles were "a shame", you're bound to be disappointed here.

I'm pretty amped though! Can't wait!

I will wait on reviews for this one. The "remastered" release was a sham with over-the-top DNR. If it's based on that source it won't look that good at all. Otherwise, this might be a decent conversion, at the minimum.

Predator 3D Blu-ray
That's strange, it says it's only one disc. I thought the 3D and 2D transfers were meant to be on separate discs?

Amazon's info is almost never fully accurate. Thousands of American Blu-Rays on US Amazon list "None" under extras. I'd wait until the release date is closer.

Most of Fox's quickie-3D conversions have been one disc for 2D + 3D...

I have discs that are 3d and 2d on the one disc like The Amazing Spiderman and Dredd

The reason it's under question is because James Finn did tell me it would be separate discs. Before he said that I was under the same impression as you, that it would be like I, Robot. We'll see, I guess.

The Amazon.de listing for the limited edition head has been up for several months (since mid July) and it has always listed 2 disks. Disk 2 is necessary if extras are included since they will not fit on the 3D disk. Disk 2 may be a DVD or a BD. The number and types of disks in the "headless" release may differ from the limited edition head release.

The 3D in The Avengers and Top Gun is actually quite good. I feel pity that you miss out on so much 3D, especially considering how much your of your loved native content actually is converted.

I watched The Avengers in 3D about a week ago and was very impressed. I didn't realize a conversion can look that good when the effort is put into it.

I'm going to have to agree with the last 2; The Avengers' 3D conversion was quite spectacular.
