I'm interested based on the producers alone, but this will be the third show Howard Gordon will be working on if you count the new 24.

FX seems to have a lot shows that could be made.

Howard Gordon is producing Homeland, Legends (Summer 2014), 24 (Summer 2014) and probably this if it gets picked up. That's 4 shows. He's got a really busy plate. However, Craig Wright will be the showrunner. So Gordon won't have to be on set.

The interesting thing too is David Fury will be working on this show and the new 24 as well.

Bump

Premieres tonight on FX

Anyone planning to check this out? I know it's gotten mixed viewers from TV critics and has had alot of behind the scenes problems as well.

The behind the scenes problems are covered pretty well in this article.

Here's the plot summary for episode 1:

Quote:

Season One - Episode Descriptions

Episode 1 / Production #178 - "Pilot" (Airs June 24, 10:00 pm e/p) - Barry Al-Fayeed is a California pediatrician who also happens to be the second son of a Middle Eastern dictator. Barry reluctantly agrees to return home with his American family for his nephew's wedding. Events thrust him into the complex and turbulent growing pains of a nation straining to break free from dictatorial rule. Written by Gideon Raff; directed by David Yates.

All the previews I've seen during Fargo never interested me at all, and the very negative reviews cement me not watching this.

The promos do nothing for me. I'm passing on this.

If Twitter is any indication many people were offended while many loved it...

This wasn't bad at all. Sure, it wasn't a masterpiece, but I thought it was a pretty compelling Pilot and set up the series well. Surprised it ran 82 minutes.

The weakest parts were definitely Bassam's wife and kids. Hopefully that gets toned down somewhat in future episodes that Howard Gordon oversees. I like Jen Finnigan, but Molly was kind of written like an annoying hag like Brody's wife on Homeland. Adam Rayner wasn't bad as the lead.

The strongest parts IMO was Bassam dealing with his brother, the flashbacks and the political elements.

That introduction to Jamal was interesting to put it lightly.

[Show spoiler]

Raping that woman with his entourage watching the husband and kids in the next room.

I think the TV critics were a little too harsh with this one. I also get that FX promos didn't really help sell this show very well, so some of you didn't feel the urgency to see this.

It really needs to develop a good balance between the political drama and family drama for it to work. I'm in for the next 9 weeks. I think the Pilot was strong enough to sell me on this show and it's potential. Sure, this premise probably isn't going to appeal to everyone, including the casual tv fans here. FX has hardly produced any drama bombs and I don't think this is one of them.

Btw, the Morocco scenics were gorgeous. I liked David Yates directing, but I wonder had Ang Lee stayed on if the show's style would have been any different.
