Heads up to prospective buyers: the art booklet that comes with the Vol. 1 box is held together with metal rivets, and makes a very snug fit inside the box with the two BD cases. This also makes keeping Vol. 2's slipcase inside the box almost impossible, unless you want to practically powerslam your set to remove a volume.

Edit: Oh wow, reversable covers!
My LE finally arrived after having a little excursion into Illinois due to either DHL or USPS screwing up. You weren't exaggerating about it being a tight fit. I could see the middle of the artbox protruding out and decided it would be better to just stick the artbook in with the placeholder and slip for Pt. 2 into my big bag miscellaneous packaging items. Looking at the pictures just reminded me of how unnecessarily moe'd-up the show is anyway.

So what's the deal with these film strips? Where there should be a stereo analogue soundtrack, there's just a blue strip instead. It's not SDDS, it's not Dolby Digital, what is it?

Ok, so my first ever DeepDiscount order arrived today, from their B2G1 Free sale - took exactly 10 days from order to doorstep - not too bad for free budget shipping all the way from CA to PA.... not the greatest packaging, a flimsy soft corrugated mailing pouch - fortunately none of these titles came with slips or artbox packaging to get damaged in the corners, so everything made it just fine, and unblemished...

My ImportCD order for the Fam BD sets and the Last Exile DVD had appeared to be farther along on it's journey than the DD order, but evidently not - just got an email stating it's in Philadelphia now, so I expect that shipment may arrive tomorrow, or Wednesday at the latest.... BTW, both my DD and ImportCD orders originated from Compton CA, wonder if those two companies are affiliated in any way, or just happen to be located near each other...

I thought the story itself was excellent - after you get used to the drool swapping scenes the first few times, lol... but that actually had a major role in the plot, by the end, so it made for an interesting and unique story... that one is my favorite of the three, actually - I would recommend it! There is some fan service in that one, not a whole lot, though...

The same company owns Deep Discount and ImportCds.

The main thing you will be spoiling are characters and those that join the crew. If you are in it for the long haul and are remaining spoiler free and it will be a while before you get to it.

On the other hand, it is the movie I would recommend to people that may be interested in giving One Piece a shot. While it does spoil in the sense of who will join, it is a great way to give someone an introduction and get a bit of a feel for the series.

Anyways... trailer time.

Definitely in for One Piece and Fairy Tail. What's going on with DBZ though?

I second this, what is the case with DBZ? I previously owned the 1.1 and 1.2 blu sets, and had recently started buying the series on DVD because I figured we weren't going to get a blu set, but if we're actually getting a season by season release on blu then I want that over the DVDs.

Although you specifically started saying BD and DVD, my eyebrows raised for a second when I saw Chrono Crusade, then they lowered again when DVD was next to it.

Jormungand's a definite buy, I'll have to watch Oniai & Aquarion Evol first.

Fairy Tail P7 & Movie, Aesthetica Rogue Hero, and Jormungand are Day 1s for me for December. Considering DBZ S1 Uncut and Aqurion Evol...

Well, I predicted right. No final Hellsing Ultimate until next year. Le sigh.

I checked Wolf Children's Right Stuf page for a listing of bonus features, and much like Summer Wars, this also doesn't come with the director's commentary that came in the Japanese home video release.

Y'know, this is the part where I hate to give Section 23 (aka Sentai Filmworks) credit, since they're inferior to Funimation's content, but at least THEY can provide and translate the Japanese director's commentary on a few of their blu-rays; specifically the Makoto Shinkai movies. Why can't FUNI give this luxury to Mamoru Hosoda's works?

When did FUNi stop giving a damn about Japanese commentaries? I know they gave us those before with Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid (before the re-release), so why did choose not to bother?
