Well, poop. Who's the dummy heading up that company? They turned down Ms. 45?!
Shame about Deadly Blessing. I love it. It's definitely one of Craven's more underrated films, much like films of his like Cursed, Deadly Friend and The People Under the Stairs. As for Ninja III...That was probably a bad business decision. It's too obscure, too weird and too niche for it to have sold better. It is a shame that none of the fans put their money where their mouth is though. At least with something like Deadly Blessing, you've got the draw that it's a Wes Craven film but Ninja III? Well who the hell is Sam Firstenberg? The guy who made Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo, that's who! ![]() |

More from the podcast:
They're still working on extras for the "Shout!" release of "The Shadow", but people will be very happy. Cliff shoots down "Motel Hell", "CHUD", and "The Stuff." "The Horror Show" will have an interview with Kane Hodder. They also shoot down possibilities of "Silent Night, Deadly Night" and "House on Sorority Row." They say at the end of the month there may be an announcement for a rather "new" horror title release. Cliff says they have a deal with "Chiller Films" so it will probably be something from them. They also shoot down "Fade to Black", "Private Parts", "The Pit", and "The Gate." They also say they had a chance to release a "Child's Play" box set, but Universal put a stipulation on it saying they couldn't release it for another 1-2 years because of their plans to release their own box set which they just released. Cliff says in hindsight he wishes they did it because Universal didn't give parts 2 or 3 any extras and they would have. They don't think they're going to be able to include the theatrical cut of "Nightbreed" on the "Cabal Cut" release. They're just getting started on features for "Night of the Demons" and "Witchboard" and Kevin Tenney will be heavily involved. "Darkman" has been pushed back to February in order to accommodate certain people's schedules and they if it all works out people will be happy. "Halloween 3" out sold "Halloween 2" in their recent special sale. "Crawlspace" will have commentary with David Schmoeller and the short film, "Please Kill Mr. Kinski." I wouldn't worry too much about sales, horror on blu ray is clearly booming and scream are riding the crest of that wave. Some titles will obviously sell better than others but i think its safe to say that scream has been a success. I think the reason films like "Ninja 3" and the chiller titles, and AOP13 is because the moneymen wanted them in there to capatilise on screams success.

I'm excited about the Scream sale. Hoping we get a day where Town That Dreaded Sundown reaches $11.99. I've hesitated in buying it because I don't usually do blind buys, but for $11.99 I'm going to get it.
Also considering a blind buy on Terror Train. If you had to do a blind buy on one or the other, Terror Train or Town That Dreaded Sundown, which is the better choice? |

Just wait for their next "in road" with Universal. They may come with Psycho IV and the Wes Craven movies.

It didn't sound very likely for "Psycho 4" they said the next time they do business with Universal they have other titles they're getting above "Psycho 4" and I think they said the only way it will ever be a possibility if the new "Psycho" releases sell incredibly well.

Also, for the people like me who want Phantom of the Paradise to appear in the Scream Factory line, we can see Winslow Leach in the credits scene of This year's Treehouse of Horror, supervised by Guillermo del Toro. Also in there are Hellboy, the car from The Car, Blade, and Cthulu, for all the Lovecraft fans out there.. It's awesome.
Hypnotoad is in there too. Sadly, it seems that will be the best part, as all three stories have been done before in slightly different ways by the show. Last edited by demonknight; 10-04-2013 at 07:25 PM. |

They want them, but don't want to pay SF prices. Ninja III sold quite well at Amazon and Best Buy when they had it for <$10.

Here's a post with all the information collected from the new podcast:
"Ms. 45" and "Massacre at Central High" were almost "Scream/Shout!" titles, but were turned down when presented to the heads of the company. "Halloween II", "Halloween III", and "They Live" are their highest sellers. "Lifeforce" is their highest seller on Amazon. They also say "Fright Night 2" is in "rights limbo-hell." Cliff has went to 5 parties and no one claims they know. Paramount has TV rights, but no home video rights. They state they are aware it is a highly requested titled and they have been looking. They also state fans aren't buying as much as they are talking/requesting. Mainly saying "Rolling Thunder" and "Ninja III: The Domination" were anticipated to sell well due to fans asking for them, but sales have only been "okay" to poor. "Deadly Blessing" also "did not perform to expectations." Regarding "Psycho 4" they "just wanted to put out the theatrical films." They also say if they get another "in road" into Universal they have more requested titles such as the Wes Craven films. Regarding fans on some of their transfers, Cliff acknowledges the people "who have absolutely nothing better to do in their life but get on the internet and say "this sucks." He says people are swearing "Phantasm 2" came from a VHS transfer and he even went back to Universal and they acknowledge it came from a high-def transfer. Kinski." They say they restored the original mono track for "Assault on Precinct 13" which wasn't on the previous blu-ray apparently. |

Ninja III is fantastic, but then again I didn't jump on it until the price dropped so low it would have been silly not to buy. Had I known it would have appealed to me so much it would have been a day 1 buy. Too bad the sales were not good. I would have loved to see Revenge of the Ninja or the American Ninja films on BD.

Yes it did....may people grabbed Ninja III during that sale(including me). It was as blind buy and at that price I really don't mind blind buying but at closer to $20 range I usually don't do it(unless something really looks appealing). Bottom line is running sales like these on these more obscure titles is smart because it gets more people to pull the trigger on blind buys.
