I'm confused by this post mainly because I"m a linux noob. I'm not sure what you are trying to show?

I have installed both YD and Fedora on the PS3, and was unimpressed... maybe Sony let YD access the GPU, but to get any kind of upgrades to YD, you have to "subscribe" to them for access to their update files. Installing it is cake on the PS3, I just don't like the "feel" on the PS3 until Sony lets others access the full power of the GPU.
I am definately NOT linux averse, I run Ubuntu part time on the home machine, and I really like it. |

How is this different that using wine? That has been out for a while now, and I really don't see the value add in a new PAID distribution that does what is already done in most other distros for free... What more functionality do I get that wine doesn't give me?

If you're implying CrossOver is useless because they chose to use a screenshot of IE to demonstrate it... well, the functionality is not limited to IE. Last edited by wolfNaz; 04-30-2007 at 06:57 PM. |

Not implying that the crossfire isn't useless at all. My implication was that IE is very noticiable to people who run windows and don't know any better, and by extension that the software seems to be targeted at those transitioning from windows, and not knowing that there are better and CHEAPER options than paying for a packaged distribution...

Well, yes, I'd say that's exactly their target audience.
And after going through the pain and agony of setting up World of Warcraft for play via Wine I have no trouble seeing the value is a commerical distribution of Wine that officially supports the game. If this was available back then I probably would have gladly shelled out the extra cash. ![]() |
