Just days after having a rant on AVS about bogus claims from either side of the waters i find myself with something i want to say but not sure if anyone will believe me!
Ok anyways...i work in the finance industry (i am going to be a little vague cause i dont want to get into trouble) and today i just found out that one of our clients is..... Protect The Innocent(mainly you)! And that we have contact will Mr Lucas himself! My manager then went on to say that he has spoken to him several times! Blew me away. So like any other movieholic would of done look on the files and yep there it was all the possible details you could want for Lucas Film! So, what the f**k should i do! (i know i sound like a crazed fan but hey i like star wars) Last edited by Deciazulado; 08-10-2007 at 01:00 AM. Reason: we wouldn't want you to get in trouble :) |

Well first and foremost, don't get yourself into any trouble. That being said, is your boss riding the Blu train. Perhaps he could put a "bug" in Lucas' ear for Blu, or get some info on what his thoughts/plans are on the subject.

I would just forget it, unless you have the opportunity to correspond with him directly on business matters. In that case I would end the correspondence with some note to the extent that you are a big fan of his work and of Blu-ray technology that allows films to be seen as their creators, like him, intended. Ask if there is any way he might push for releases of his titles on Blu-ray.
Even if you could work that into a phone conversation or email, it's doubtful you'd get an open response but it's your best shot. An email out of the blue would not cut it and he might not like that, in which case your boss would hear about it. |

Don't do anything stupid. But if you "happen" to "accidentally" end up "helping" him in some way... say getting assigned to work with him or something... maybe then you could just "chat" away and happen to "mention" that you can't wait to see his stuff on blu-ray...
  ![]() (or you could just PM me his telephone number ![]() |

Don't even bother him about it. At all. The only force he'll bend to is the market force. We don't want him getting all defensive and telling people that the BDA is infiltrating his financiers.

I'm not saying you should do this, but I would sure be tempted to bring up that somebody who works with George Lucas said that they might skip these formats if one doesn't win (or talk to that guy about it), yet George's friend Steven Spielberg might be able to bring about an end to the war by getting Dreamworks (animation and/or live action) stuff released on just Blu-ray and telling Universal that they can only release his stuff if they do it on both. There are few that are powerful enough to end this war almost by themselves, but Spielberg probably could (at least toward Blu-ray). Maybe that is what George should ask for for his birthday.
![]() Seriously, if it were me and the opportunity arose, I think I would mention that I would love to see his movies on Blu-ray and then see if he responded in a way that allowed continuing that conversation. --Darin Last edited by darinp2; 08-10-2007 at 08:18 AM. |

Sorry, I don't believe you for the simple fact that someone in a position as yours wouldn't spell definitely as defiantly. Unless you're going to defy him the next time you see him! What exactly is your position in the finance industry?
