The owner of Body Bags hated the VHS/DVD artwork. So, they decided not to go with it. A rather simple explanation. Sort of a reverse Psycho II.

Wasn't Body Bags originally made for TV? Based on that, I would assume they wouldn't go out of their way to seek out another poster for alternate art, especially if what demonknight said is true.

It's OK, the artwork they commissioned is quite good, and that's keeping in mind that I'm not a Justin Osbourn fan.

It is true. I believe that Jeff mentioned it on the FB page a few months back.

Id love a Phantasm blu ray but when Jeff in the FB forums talking about only having so much money , it makes me wonder if they can get more upper tier type titles..I hope so...maybe part of that budget went to Phantasm

Yeah. But Coscarelli owns 1,3,&4... and with his enthusiasm with the Phantasm 2 release, I would think that he would give them a fair asking price.

Anchor Bay still has the distribution rights to them. It wouldn't happen through SF until Anchor Bay loses them.

Anchor Bay lost one, if not all of them. They no longer have the rights to the original, and possibly the sequels as well.

Has anyone provided any reliable sources for this rumor or is it still mostly "I heard it from a guy who heard it from a guy..." internet speculation? I only ask because Anchor Bay still has all three titles listed on their website.

I have no evidence, sadly. That said, it may be a Yuzna-type situation where the deal expires this month/this day/this year. For all we know, they may only have it until January.
