I still don't understand why they don't just keep things like the comics. Are ethnic minorities really going to have such an outcry of disdain if any of the Fantastic Four are yet again, white(!).

It's a completely stupid move imo to try and shoehorn an ethnic minority into the role 'just for the sake of doing so' rather than finding quality actors that just fit into the mould set by the comics already.

He's a good actor, I get that. So if the director was so dead set on working with this particular actor, maybe he should have got involved in a project that made that easy to do, rather than here where you have a 50 year history and a fanbase that it's going to alienate.

As mentioned, you could just give the characters a makeover I suppose in ethnicity making them black instead of white and call it a day there, but it does and there is no denying this, bastardise the whole source material on the ethnicity front.

I just think this whole thing is going to split people quite down the middle. I'm on the fence. If they're going to use a black Johnny storm, they should change the whole story of him, his dad, mom and sister so they're black; otherwise it's completely stupid.

If they decide to just go the traditional route of keeping them white, i'll also be perfectly happy with that.

I know somebody mentioned about Jessica Alba being latina rather than white, but it's true, it's easier to 'pass off' as a Caucasian and I don't think the majority of the audience saw her as a latina, but rather a white woman.

The source material is already getting changed. And always will get changed.

That's true of any adaption of comic books to avoid the trappings of the era they were made.

As noted already... beating the Russkies to the moon, Mr. Fantastic treating Sue like crap.

The movies are not the 616 Comic Universe. They are for all intents and purposes an alternate universe.

Just wait until they cast Wasp in one of the Avengers films and go with her Asian-American Ultimate version.

Yeah, race has become such an touchy issue, it's become too touchy. When you go out of your way to change a character's ethnicity just to change things up you're bending over backwards and just being silly.

I don't care what race Johnny is as long as it doesn't feel forced.

I'm more concerned with the chemistry of the actors. I enjoyed the FF and RotSS but there was no chemistry at all between Jessica Alba and Chris Evans imo.

nobody seems to be making a big deal about Electro being played by a black actor

Maybe a trailer would change peoples minds once F4 gets rolling

Changing the Villain's skintone seems to bother people less than the Hero's. See Kingpin or Khan.

Since Donald inspired writers to create Miles Morales, it would cool if Michael B. Jordan does a great job and the same happens with the FF/Johnny Storm

James Gunn should have totally cast a real raccoon to play Rocket Raccoon.

He did hold a meeting with one at least. But I suppose his salary demands were too high.

Well, Tom Hanks said this week he very much wanted to get cast in a comic book movie, and preferably a villain. Maybe he'd be interested in an anti-hero?

Kinda reminds me of that one Chappelle's show skit that mentions Tom Hanks.

I won't post the link cause it says a racial slur in it. Though they use it in funny way. Still don't wanna chance it. So just look up Mooney on Movies on youtube to see it.

I honestly see them doing a whole, white Sue black Johnny thing, where Johnny is adopted. Simple and would be interesting to watch.

If it is just left unexplained then it's just stupid.

PS. I'd rather wait a few years and see Michael B. Jordan as Blade (reboot) or Green Lantern (John Stewart).

I think Jordan would be a Great Green Lantern.. I don't want a Blade reboot because now that it is back in Marvel/Disney's hands it will be PG13.. so a big pass for me on that
