SoCal PSN:CaptBurn
Default Warning: Do not buy GT5 from PSN (if you want to use with another/subaccount)

I wanted to warn everyone not to purchase GT5 from the PSN but rather from a B&M retailer instead (price is same).

Apparently, the version in the PSN is restricted to the Master Account only and can not be used by subaccounts. Which is complete and total bullshit, to be frank.

I spoke at length with Sony customer service (to a supervisor at one point who was a complete and total *******... You know who you are 'Rob'). Upon the discussion going nowhere I informed him I would have no choice but to do a chargeback on the credit card since the product was not what I was under the impression I was downloading. It also does not say anywhere, in any description, at any point in time that it is only useable by the Master Account. 'Rob' lied to me and said it was covered in the ToS and User Agreement which I have now gone through complete where no mention of any games being restricted to use by the Master Account exists. 'Rob' also lied and said that it stated it on the cart before confirming the purchase which I also debunked by going up to that point on my subaccount. At no point in time in any ToS or cart list or anywhere does it mention it can only be played on the Master Account. Upon hearing my only resolution being a chargeback, 'Rob' informed me that if I did that I would be permanently banned from the PSN and no longer able to play my Playstation 3 online in any way shape or form. Am I the only one who thinks this may be excessive for someone simply asserting their rights? I never even started up the game (offered to delete it then and there)! And, PSN has full control of our PS3... They could have easily nullfied the title on mine (from that digital source). 'Rob' informed me that Warhawk was the same way and I should have known better... Wow. That is just ******* stupid since I purchased Warhawk on Bluray and it works fine on all my subaccounts as well!

It is extortion, plain and simple.

Needless to say, I will no longer ever be purchasing _anything_ from the PSN. Ever. Sony has completely lost my business on that end (the more profitable end for them no less). I'm very tempted to go ahead with the chargeback as I think 'Rob' may have lied for a third time about the repercussions of such action.

Anyway, that's my rant for today. Just trying to help others avoid this bullshit with the craptastic PSN.

It's standard practice for no refunds on downloads, if for no other ereason than they have absolutely no way of ensuring you've deleted the content, especially since PS3 can move stuff off to an external drive

Moral of the story- don't download expensive games and buy a physical disc

Plus, you can eBay the disc when you're done with it.

Man, that sucks. But hey, downloads are the future! Whenever there's the option of a physical item, I always go with the physical item just for things like this. That REALLY sucks.

I'm usually a physical disk guy myself (hence Warhawk on disc); however, I'm not home but visiting the folks in SoCal for a few weeks and thought it would be neat to show off on their new 1080p plasma they just got (my ps3 is their only way to see the full potential right now). Was more of a quick buy to do something while the MGO beta gets rolling.

It's only $40 so my life isn't over... Just one less lap dance at 4play (came down for a friends bachelor party and wedding).

It's just unfortunate and leaves a really bad taste in my mouth for the whole digital downloading thing. I can see problems like this with other types of content in the future brighter than ever now. I can say, as of right now, I could never support or use a digital download service for TV/Movies/Games or anything. This is just too much bullshit and I didn't know that 'digital download' instantly caused the consumer rights we all have to be instantly removed and made non-existent. That really just doesn't make any sense.

I told them I don't need a refund... Just send me the BD so I can play the game and I'm happy. Nope.

Another account can be added to your PSN account so it can be monitored. For example; parents can use it to add money for their kids and limit what they can buy. Its just another account under the PSN account that you currently have. This way they can access all the games that you paid for.

Wa wa wa ***** ***** moan moan. I for one will be buying my games (when given the choice) off the PSN from now on. I absolutley love having all my games on the HDD (hey, zero to no load times rule). After awhile (around 500) one begins to see that having a lot of carts and disc's takes up too much space and I'm sick of it. No more outdated optical media for me. It served it's purpose in the past but now it's time to step into the 21st century and let the Digital Distribution commence.

While I agree there are things that any manufacturer can and should do to help consumers make choices (like offering demo's), this is just whining.

Call me bias as I have no use for sub-accounts, I'am the only one who plays the PS3 in my house hold.

You can set it up so that your master account password is required at purchase time.

PSN keeps track of your downloads. The hdd crashing wouldn't matter with the PSN/PS3...your machine dying would use up one your 5 downloads.

Bull. If you've had positive experiences with XBox Live customer support you got lucky, plain and simple. Everytime I've had an issue I get surly Joe and his screw you attitude.

Oh, and everything you download from Live says "No refunds will be given for any reason". If you talked someone into a refund you got *REALLY* Lucky.
