The dads will be around until May! Fox announced that it has ordered an additional nine episodes of Dads, bringing the total order to 22 for the sitcom’s first, fairly high-profile season.

Fox says the comedy that stars Martin Mull, Giovanni Ribisi and Seth Green is one of the top 10 new series among men 18-34, men 18-49 and women 18-34. It is averaging a 2.2 rating/7 share among adults 18-49, according to Nielsen.

The comedy is from Seth MacFarlane, Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild (Family Guy) and follows two successful guys – and childhood best friends who take in their dads.

A big reason Dads was renewed (besides wanting to stay in Seth MacFarlane's good graces) is because Fox's has no faith in their midseason comedies and they want to give Fridays a legit shot. I figured when they scheduled Raising Hope and Enlisted for Fridays that it was just a temporary spot and they'd eventually be moved to a better night but it appears Fox truly intends to put the comedies and Bones on Fridays. In addition Fox has already shown they don't believe in either of their midseason comedies. Christopher Meloni's Surviving Jack recently had it's order cut to 8 episodes and the Alexis Bledel/Jason Ritter comedy Us & Them has already had a de facto cancellation as production was stopped after 6 episodes and everyone involved with the show was told they could look for new jobs.

Too bad! My husband asked me to PVR it because he remembers the original. And I love Blair Underwood, so had not problems with that. We'll watch the last of the episodes though.

ABC made a number of moves with their new comedies on Friday. Back in the Game was effectively cancelled. It will still air all 13 of it's original order but did not receive an order for additional episodes. The Goldbergs and Trophy Wife both received full-season orders for 9 additional episodes. Super Fun Night received an order for 4 more episodes, which likely means the show won't get a second season as it's season will likely end in February.

Although it wasn't announced I would expect Suburgatory to take Back in the Game's time slot sometime in January. Mixology will likely take Super Fun Night's post-Modern Family spot.

Lifetime’s ‘Witches Of East End’ Renewed For Second Season

Lifetime’s ‘Witches Of East End’ Renewed For Second Season

Lifetime is going two for two with its freshman scripted series. As expected, the cable network has given a second season pickup to drama Witches Of East End, starring Julia Ormond, Mädchen Amick, Jenna Dewan Tatum and Rachel Boston as a family of witches living in the secluded seaside town of East Haven. The series has received a 13-episode order for a 2014 premiere. “With its great story telling and amazing cast, Witches Of East End is leading a full-blown witch renaissance,” said Rob Sharenow, EVP and General Manager of Lifetime. Witches Of East End joins Lifetime’s freshman Devious Maids, which also has been renewed for a second season. One of Lifetime’s youngest skewing scripted series ever, with a median age of 46, Witches Of East End, from Fox 21, is averaging 3.0 million total viewers, 1.7 million Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 viewers, and 1.3 million Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 viewers on a Live+7 basis through five weeks. Based on Melissa de la Cruz’s best-selling novel, Witches Of East End centers on the mysterious Beauchamp family: free-spirited artist Joanna (Ormond) and her two grown daughters, wild-child bartender Freya (Dewan Tatum) and shy librarian Ingrid (Boston), both of whom are unaware that they are gifted (and cursed) with a magical birthright.

I've never watched Dads or Mom for that matter, but I do enjoy The Goldberg's. Which I hear is on a bubble? Something that depresses me is Raising Hope. I love this show and if I hadn't looked on Hulu+ wouldn't have known it was back for another season. I am also getting into Brooklyn 9-9, stupid as it is.

'Longmire' officially renewed for Season 3 by A&E

It may have taken a few months, but A&E has finally given "Longmire" a third season order.

The crime thriller starring Robert Taylor wrapped its second season back in August and executive producer John Coveny tweeted that Season 3 was a go just a few days after, but the network remained curiously tight-lipped in terms of an official announcement. Why it took until Monday (Nov. 25) to confirm the news remains a mystery.

"'Longmire' has become one of the most compelling dramas on television with a devoted audience and we are so proud of the show," A&E executive vice president David McKillop said in a statement."We are thrilled to continue our wonderful partnership with Warner Horizon Television, the production team, and the talented cast and crew led by the exceptional Robert Taylor."

"Longmire" stand as A&E's number one original drama series of all time in total viewers. The 10-episode third season will likely debut sometime mid-2014.

Are you relieved that A&E finally came around and gave "Longmire" a third season?

Even though the third season doesn't premiere until next month, Episodes has been renewed for a fourth season by Showtime.
