I think you also need at least 160gb set aside on the HDD since you can't use a HDD smaller than 160gb.

HDD szes on the box are always bigger than what you actually get anyway, so you don't get 500gb to start with, plus you'll be losing howerver much space has to be set aside for the system. So you would be looking at maybe 400gb useable space, maybe less? from the get go
