For real though, incredible job. That looks ready for production. Love that you included the map from the Hobbit on the flap.

I bought The Hobbit 3D before. Yesterday i picked up my The Hobbit 3D EE Steelbook at Bestbuy but i still haven't opened it. I feel guilty honestly asking my self if there is really a need to buy this EE. Please lighten me up on this one before i decide to return it or keep it. Thank you for your kindness.

The behind-the-scenes making ofs are worth the purchase.

I am very pleased with the longer version of this already amazing film. Very glad I waited for this inevitable extended release

Seriously dude...you need to contact Warner/New Line and start negotiations with them to get them to buy your design and use it for the trilogy box set release. It is truly top notch!

Thanks all! I actually have done package design in the past (a cancelled special edition release of AMC's The Prisoner and some boxing DVDs for Showtime), though I don't know how receptive WB would be if I asked them to use my idea, lol. Would be sweet though!

Barry's mock up is outstanding. I hope what we eventually get is even half as good. Also you make me a bit jealous because of my lack of artistic talent whatsoever.

Quite frankly if they don't use your design, or at least a similar derivative, I imagine I'll be quite disappointed. Outstanding work.

The silver-like color you used for the box reminds me simultaneously of the Mithril armor Bilbo acquires on his journey as well as Gandalf "The Grey". The silver is also distinctly different from the coloring used for the LOTR box set while still remaining stylish. The eye of Smaug is splendid as a focal point. Really just about everything here is relevant, reminiscent, and beautifully represented.

If I could change just one thing, it would be to include the text "There and Back Again" somewhere on the front, perhaps just above the "Extended Edition" text. That would just be...complete.

Though not mandatory and this is more a musing than a request, other artwork that could be used, perhaps on the back side of the box, would include: Sting, Gollum, the Ring, a stylized rendition of the Misty Mountain, or perhaps a "drawn" rendition of an Eagle or Eagles performing some series-relevant action (carrying Bilbo in talons, Gandalf on back, or attacking during the Battle of Five Armies). I also wouldn't sneeze at the idea of the Arkenstone being used in some form or fashion on the back cover of the box set.

Isn't "There and Back Again" going to be used for the title of the third film?

He confirmed the price match and placed the order.

I don't know if it was because I am an eliteplus member or if I just got a nice CSR but he accepted the SKU I gave him, price matched amazon's price, and took my order over the phone. So anyone who is holding out to get this version from Best Buy can still have a chance. One thing to note... If you are planning on using any of rewardzone points, be sure to have your certificate number on hand. They cannot pull points from your account over the phone.

The SKU at bestbuy.com for the standard 3D release is 21760142.
I was told that it needed to say "Low Price Guarantee" over the title of the product in order for it to be eligible for Price Match. So I guess they just didn't like me. No matter, I used my gift card on the Citizen Kane ultimate edition. So pretty much the same thing. Except for the 3D.

What?! They were gonna do a special edition of The Prisoner (Caviezel/McKellan)?

Yup, complete mini series in a plastic rover and it would come with a Village ID card with the customer's number and photo. The number was the edition number. Also, I think, the plan was to have the DVD open with a welcome message containing the customer's name being processed and turned into their edition number. It would have been pretty cool to have a personalized set welcoming YOU to the Village. Unfortunately, ratings weren't good and AMC backed out on the special edition. Here's the mock-up I made: http://www.behance.net/gallery/AMCs-...Edition/512169

Haha! Thanks!

And thanks for your suggestions Taikero! Back of the box would likely be a symbol like the one on the back of The Hobbit AUJ (an acorn) or LOTR EE (not sure what it was, an elf pattern?). In fact, I'd probably go with the pattern seen on King Thrain's throne in Erebor - in which the Arkenstone was set.

Just finished both bonus discs. Amazing stuff here. I would have liked more on the editing and final post production, but it's wonderful material right in line with the previous Appendices.

The setting on the throne would be a fantastic idea in my opinion.

Did you choose free shipping when you placed your order?
