The PS3 outputs to whatever the content is eg. if your plaing a DVD it will output 480, If your playing a BD 1080p. Some games are 1080i, 1080p and some are less. If you have a regular TV you won't be able to experiance HD until you have a HDTV. To get the best PQ make sure to use an HDMI cable I recomend the Monster HDMI cable 1000.
