First, Sony does not offer the extended warranty its from BB, Gamestop, etc...so any problem with your PS3 you should head over to BB or where ever you bought it.

I'm on my third PS3, 1st one (at launch) would not take any disc, returned to Sony and got a new one back. That one died 8 month's later (would turn on and after 15 seconds freeze) and returned to Sony but got a refurbed back and so far so good.

ive had 3 360s in 6 months then went with ps3. over a year and no issues. i was at gamestop yesterday and i asked if they get a lot of ps3s returned or faulty. they said they hardly ever get them returned but 360s still have major issues. i believe it.

my friend whos been with xbox since they came out just ditched his 360 for a ps3. After the 360 died for the 3rd time he was done with it.

Although after the latest firmware whenever i do Folding@home my fan kicks into 360 mode. Anyone else have this problem?

If you read the thread its a new PS3. I returned my orginal in October and got a new one at Best Buy. It should still be covered and it is. A supervisor at Sony called me and apologized

I always took care of both of them. Never around any dust. Always cleaned my furniture. Always took breaks from a long playing time. I just dont get it. Oh well im getting a 40gb and then the MGS4 80gb when it comes out. BB is returning my money.

Don't worry. These things happen. Better to use a surge protector/power conditioner when you get the new one. Just in case....

no offense my friend but being a victim second time around of a PS3 failure gives me a hard time to believe. I AM NOT QUESTIONING WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU? but i think for some reason you might be enjoying the PS3 too much to the point of ABUSING IT. which might be why your system crashed.

About BB warranty plan. THEY ARE A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME....WORTHLESS....you shouldn't purchase one anymore for anything.

for the 360 still working you are one of the lucky few that the xbox haven't given the red ring of death.

i have 2 ps3s and no problems. i had a 360 for a week and got the RROD, i went out and exchanged it and had the 2nd 360 for a little over a year just up to a month or so ago it would freeze up non stop, so now i am on my 3rd 360 which is the new "falcon" version and it is running good.

Based on the stories I hear, PS3 is much more reliable than 360. Also, wish to note that we have a 10 year old PS1 and 5 year old PS2 and they work without any problems in spite of the way that children abuse them.

Man, I don't know what you're talking about, but just because somebody's
PS3 went out you assume that they abuse it by playing too much or somehow were negligent? Come on. I had my PS3 laser go out on me 2 months after buying it. Then i took it back to best buy (with the warranty, I purchased) and got a new one. The new one was defective from the start, but I guess your going to assume that maybe I abused it one the way home from the store. My PS3 is in an open environment. I dusted every other day around the whole entertainment center. You cant just think everybody's at fault for their system going out.

About the best buy warranty thing also....I bought the warranty from best buy and they took both systems back no questions asked. They said they will still cover the new one for the rest of the remaining year and then after that sony is responsible to replace it for the second year. It's a good warranty for only 50 bucks. I'm glad i had mine.

Maybe you should grow up a little bit and stop assuming the PS3 has absolutely no problems. No product is that way. Well, maybe the grow up thing is a little harsh to say to someone but I just get annoyed when people get on this forum and try to cause trouble.

oh seriously i get a ridiculous reply from you, obviously you should read my post first before posting. otherwise DON'T POST. So in return you should grow up since you are causing trouble right now.

I said both "NO OFFENSE" and "I WASN'T QUESTIONING THE OP" if you get annoyed then don't read nor reply for one. and if you were smart enough you would see a hint of sarcasm in my post the keyword (enjoying it so much). so i shouldn't be getting a lecture from someone who just started posting.

now i know my reply to you is somewhat harsh, TRY NOT TO TAKE OFFENSE, but you need to think first before posting such an attacking reply, and my intention was completely is not to offend the OP.

Default 2nd time PS3 has died

If this is your second Playstation 3 that has died, before you do anything I suggest looking at your surge protector or where you had this plugged into before buying another PS3. It may be that either your surge protector could be bad or something else could be causing this problem. The other thing I would suggest is maybe don't buy another PS3 and get a regular Blu-Ray player, Since this is the second PS3 that has died on you. I would also make sure that any other dvd players or whatever you may have connected into a power outlet or surge protector, make sure that they are working properly before buying anything else.

CRAP.... My 40GB just died too AFTER ONLY 3 MONTHS! XMB works fine but playback drivetrain is shot. Dead controller no doubt.

Anyone have any luck getting Sony to replace with a new one. No way in hell I'm taking a refurb or having it sent back all scratched from repair. Just really pisses me off since I take really good care of my electronics. "Sony... you have some 'splaining to do!"
