Warner Bros Hatari! (1962) / El Dorado (1966)

Hatari! Blu-ray

Quote:
Director Howard Hawks reteams with John Wayne, who heads a group of highly skilled professional game hunters in Africa. Only they don't use bullets - they capture the ferocious big game with strong rope and cameras for zoos and circus attractions. It is an exciting business that pits man against beast. "Hatari" means danger in Swahili, but Hatari also means a spectacular adventure film.

El Dorado Blu-ray

Quote:
Legendary producer-director Howard Hawks teams with two equally legendary stars, John Wayne and Robert Mitchum, in this classic Western drama. Mitchum plays to perfection an alchoholic but gutsy sheriff who relentlessly battles the dark side of the wild West, ruthless cattle barons and crooked "businessmen." The Duke gives an equally adept performance as the sheriff's old friend who knows his way around a gunfight. Filled with brawling action and humor, El Dorado delivers the goods. James Caan and Ed Asner co-star.

HATARI! is one of my favourite movies. Unfortunately the Blu-ray (which is already available in Europe) sucks.

I will take one of each. Thank you Warner Bros!

And, as always, thank you Akijama for the information. We all appreciate your announcements.

Not sure why they're waiting so long to release The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance here, but I'm sure that has to be coming next year too.

Do we know for a fact that the upcoming Warner Blu-ray release of HATARI! will be an exact copy of the European release? Some NTSC releases have proved to be superior to their corresponding PAL versions.

Mancini's Baby Elephant Walk for the win! I love Hatari!. When I was a kid, this was one of my favorite John Wayne movies. It often showed up on TV as a double feature with Hellfighters, another John Wayne film I want on blu-ray.

El Dorado's transfer is impressive (just like the film itself).

Apparently not! That is a shame. The HDTV looks quite good.
