One thing you want to consider is if you are upgrading or buying your first tv.

If you are upgrading from a 42'' 1080i (which cost you $1.5k) and want to get a 42'' 1080p and now its going to cost you like $2k-3k. I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't have money to throw around. In situations like that, I would say that its not worth it unless you really got your money out of the first TV you purchased. I would wait atleast 5 years after you got your first tv before even considering to upgrade it.

Now if its your first tv, then definately get the 1080p because it is worth the extra cash over a 1080i.
