In many instances, Eureka's releases, or selections at least, trump what Criterion has. They don't put out nearly as much, but they're usually great choices, and the supplements are excellent. To name a few: Touch of Evil Double Indemnity Lifeboat Metropolis Silent Running Nosferatu The Testament of Dr Mabuse and Dr Mabuse the Gambler Mizoguchi Collection (8 films including Ugetsu and Sansho the Bailiff) The Passion of Joan of Arc Last edited by MifuneFan; 11-26-2013 at 02:22 PM. |

I'll agree that they stepped it up, though I would say that the bulk of Arrow's library don't offer the range that Eureka does. They put out a lot more Horror and thriler type titles than anything. Great releases nonetheless, just not usually titles that make top great film lists like you'd find from Eureka, and Criterion. I kind of liken Arrow to the Scream Factory of the UK. They do however have the Arrow Academy line which is closer to Criterion (and MoC). That includes such titles as Rififi (which I recently ordered), Night of the Hunter, and Bicycle Thieves. The UK definitely has some solid labels that put out great films, including Artifical Eye, Second Sight, and BFI.

So three years after release I finally got around to picking this up (since its one of those Paramount discs that Warner distributed that may go into limbo). Excellent PQ, audio, and the film still holds up.
