yes of course.

Your ps3 set to linear pcm will decode truehd or dts master hd audio and send it to your receiver. Your receiver will see it as multichannel PCM and display it on your receiver. Hit select on your ps3 remote and you will see either truehd or dts master at the top right.

Yeah, 40 watts per channel more power and better components.
The 805 has a top of the line DAC, found in $5,000 Denon and Yamaha receivers.
Burr Brown PCM1796 - http://focus.ti.com/docs/prod/folder...t/pcm1796.html
THX Ultra 2 certification adds THX processing to all soundfield modes as well.
Less harmonic distortion.
Certified 4 Ohm performance
Much higher instant current capability
Independant blocks for Amp/Processor
Can accept DSD natively and convert DSD to Analog

It's a beast for sure.

Go to Onkyo's page and compare the two.

Just think about that massive grin you're going to have when you first crank up an action scene on your new receiver.

Think in about a week.

I just got my 605 delivered. I'm setting it up tonight.

Didn't want to wait for the 606, because I didn't see anything I needed and the price is higher.

Just let her listen to a scene from her favourite action movie on Blu-ray with the 805.

Good luck!! (..and good choice)

I've just purchased one (I will use it as a pre/pro). I will let you know when I've put it through its paces. (shipping now). The audio options on the Yamaha far exceed that of the Onkyo 605. That was a major selling point with me. I have a HDMI 1.3 switcher, so only having 2 inputs didn't bother me a bit.

My wife thinks home theatre is annoying (kinda like how I think shoes are annoying), so good luck with that...

We were at a friend's party a few weeks ago who had a Bose Lifestyle system.
My fiancee came over to me after about 30 minutes of them "cranking" the tunes and said "I'm so glad you have good speakers, it's such a difference"

Of course that made my night. My fiancee loves home theatre, although sometimes during really low undulating bass she'll insult my Servo15v2 as being too low.

Ha, ha.

Maybe If I get her the 4 pairs of shoes she has in the Amazon 'Save for later' section of the cart.

Dobyblue,

I just wanted to thank you again! I've had the 805 for 2 days now. I can't believe what I had been missing. It was what you posted in this thread that convinced me to go with the 805 over the 605.

Thanks for being so helpful on the forums!
