How in the name of God could the reviewer know what shots Andy Serkis helmed, without some sort of behind the scenes tour, which in itself taints the review process?
What are you talking about? It doesn't specifically say that he knows which shots he helmed, it just says that his work was spectacular.

How would he know which shots were directed by Serkis in order to make that observation? When you watch 80's Spielberg films, can you tell which second unit shots were directed by Frank Marshall?

I just assumed he was generalizing based on how good he was in the first film.

I don't think you know what "directing second unit" means.

Agreed. Serkis directed most of the best scenes in Unexpected Journey.

These superticket offers are complete garbage

$20 extra for 2 digital copies

http://tickets.fandango.com/promo/ho...MA_H2ST_Offers

most marathons give you a lot more like swag and concession cash for only $10 extra

No, I know what you mean. All I've read both Chronicles books about the first movie and know how much work Serkis put into the movie. Seems like it's been a long time coming for him to have a directing job.

I don't know why a reviewer can't simply state that a director did a good job, especially since it's a unique situation that he directed and acted in the first film of a trilogy, but only directed in the second.

not that I know in this case but sometimes you can tell who did what when you're digging through the special features

on the indy special features they say the famous truck scene in raiders was second unit with a stunt double

I don't have the extended hobbit but maybe there's something in there to expand on the role serkis had

The reviewer can feel it. It's an innate ability like spidey sense.

I've watched enough film In my life that I can spot "signature marks" of a director a mile away. Scorsese, Spielberg, Jackson, Cameron, Tarrantino etc all have a style anf technique. Anyone who has seen Jacksons films and pays attention should be able to tell what is Jackson and what Is 2nd unit. At least enough to tell the quality of second unit's abilities. Plus second units tend to get smaller moments and filler.

I think you guys are making too much of this. Serkis' second unit directing has been heavily publicized, and I recall hearing either on the production diaries or the appendices that he did a lot of action scenes. It's likely that this is just an assumption on Corliss' part.

Kinda shocked myself as AMC usually offers concession cash or $5 back on my stubs card at least and for the Hobbit Double Feature it's showing no perks other than a poster and a lanyard.

Tickets are $27.50 a piece for IMAX() and of course i'll need 2 of them so $10 would help alot towards concessions.

Where do you sell the lanyard and poster at? Curious because keeping the items may not matter to me or i may sell a pair to cover some of this cost because i'll have 2 of each.

Same, i'm yet to buy advance tickets yet as i would be getting home about 4 am by the time i was to drive home that is a real deciding factor on to go or not.

I actually don't really like the marathons, cause I can't just see the single midnight IMAX screening like before. It's too long of a night. That's like almost 4 hours of a movie.

OK wanted to make sure. Thought it was possible people on this site that don't care or can stay up for midnight showings may had offers for the items to avoid the infamous "ebay fees".

Anyhow looking forward to seeing the second part next week
