I wonder whether we will ever see the Lewton films in HD? Some of the transfers in the DVD box looked like they were quite old and made in the laserdisc and VHS era. |

Me too, did not like PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS much at all, and having blind bought the arrow blu ray I immediately sold it after watching.
SERPENT ON THE RAINBOW on the other hand is one of my favourite horror films of all time! It is so atmospheric. Bill Pullman is always likeable but it features two late, legendary actors in Paul Winfield and, especially, Zakes Mokae. He gives one of the creepiest performances in a horror film EVER in my opinion. I would love to see a release of this on blu ray from Scream Factory! SALEMS LOT is another one of my favourites, I would be all over a release of that! I find both Wes Craven and Tobe Hooper to be really inconsistent, some of their films are stunning and others are plain rubbish! Last edited by OAXACA; 12-04-2013 at 08:59 PM. |

Tobe Hooper never had a series of great output quite like the Cannon years. Lifeforce, TCM 2, Invaders from Mars,... |

I really think "The Serpent and the Rainbow" is probably one of Craven's best efforts post-"Nightmare on Elm.." and pre-"Scream." In my opinion it is a lot better than "People Under the Stairs" by a long shot.
Out of all of Craven's work with Universal I think "People Under the Stairs" is by far the worst. |

I've seen the Arrow release, but I don't usually like to import unless I absolutely have to. I am just waiting to see if some company in the states releases a respectable version before I pull the trigger.

From what I gather, Essentially, the Anchor Bay acquisitions guy was close with Lakeshore/New World (who own Vamp) and those titles go wherever he goes. Anchor Bay had them, he moved to Image and took his client with him. Thats how Image ended up with the rights. So, no one else should be expected to get their hands on Vamp, at least not anytime soon. Just get the Region-Free Arrow Release, its packed and much better in quality than the only alternative for Region 1. Last edited by redrunner97; 12-05-2013 at 03:33 AM. |

I will also throw my hat in the ring, and say that Arrow's release of Vamp is very much worth getting.
