Who am I kidding? I'll probably get this! Great comments and review so far. LOL.

Not sure if this reviewer is credible. He states in the 3D quality portion that "there is not a ghost to be seen". It is common knowledge that ghosts are not disc dependent but only display issues. Also he states: "And this is probably the best the film has ever looked – much better than previous DVD and Blu-ray releases."
This is the same UHE addition transfer that was used for the 3D, correct?
No apparently it is a new version done from the same master as the UHE but they've done less DNR on it.

I don't find his review credible at all.

For what I've seen here and there (I do not have the disc myself), the 3D version has been done using the same master the UHE uses. It might have less DNR, but still look pretty smooth, so it's still not good.

The main problem is that the conversion has been done using an obviously obsolete master, where this should have been the best opportunity to justify a brand new restoration.

I watched the 2D last night as I don't have a 3D television and hate 3D and I was more than pleased with it. If its the same transfer as the UHE then oh well, it still looks quite good to me. It seems a lot of people complain about a scene where Arnold sees Carl Weathers towards the beginning but if you notice the lighting in that scene is pretty bad, and Arnold clear is sweating. Even if its altered, its a brief scene, I have seen plenty of Blu-ray titles look a lot worse than Predator, overall the title looks quite good. I was hoping for a 4K remaster but it's not, and I doubt we will see a another release, three times is enough.

Default Predator 3D Unboxing / Review

This video says it all!

[Warning graphic language and scene] I just don't want to offend anyone, so watch at your own risk (it's not that bad, though).

Sure, you're certainly entitled to your opinion and can trust any person(s) you want, but I'm not going to completely dismiss this guy's testimony saying that it's nothing more than an UHE 2.0 (or should I say "3.0" for the 3D?).

I'm sure the transfer has less DNR, and may in fact be slightly better than the original UHE, but I'll probably stick with my 2008 release for now.

It is a 3D/2D combo Blu-ray plus a DVD.

It is a lenticular cover, but its badly done. Very dark...like you screwed up the brightness and contrast on your TV until everything was shrouded in blackness. It is a transform effect: The same artwork from the case is the first image, in the swap image Arnie is covered with the heat vision of the Predator and a scope target overlays the entire thing.

I don't know if I got some weird dud that made it so dark or if they just blew it. Hopefully others will comment on how good their cover is.
Got mine today also from Foxconnect and have to agree the slipcover looks very dark, I do like the the changing effect though, but I think it should of been made brighter. This could be my favorite slipcover as of now.
I should also be getting the limited edition head tomorrow according to UPS tracking

I do have a couple Reward Zone certificates sitting unused, and with the $14.99 price at Best Buy, I might just have to pick this one up. It certainly won't be replacing my copy of the 2008 release for 2D viewing though.

Just finished watching this and I thought it looked amazing all around. The 3D was quite noticeable throughout and I fully expected to read the review on this site and see all 4s and 5s for video and 3D since I thought it was near flawless. One of my favorite films from when I was kid is now finally one of my favorite blu-rays too.

It's too bad that in this day and age companies like 20th Century Fox, Warner Bros, and Paramount more or less just re-issue the same product again and again.. Warner Bros does do fantastic transfers nonetheless..

John McTiernan is a great director and it would of been nice if he was consulted at some point on doing the transfer properly since a lot of directors have gone back and done this with some of their signature works..

I was too hoping that one of the great action films of the 80's would have had a new transfer stuck from an new negative but again much like everyone I'm still waiting..

So the European editions come with a 3D BD and the old UHE BD? This is more ideal, since you get the 2 different transfers (even though the difference seems slight), plus ALL the extras. The US is a barebones 3D/2D disc with an extras DVD. The DVD misses some of the extras from the UHE, and at least one of the included extras can be had in HD on the UHE. Looks like the Predator Head package has 2 BDs and a DVD (from this site's listing). If that's true I imagine the second BD is the UHE disc like the European editions.

The listing also says it's being released tomorrow, which isn't true. The listing was created when everyone though the U.S. would be getting a second BD in the release, and it was never updated. The Predator Head version in the U.S. has the regular U.S. 3D version with 1 BD and 1 DVD:
