I'm running 7.1 too myself, but how many of us are audiophile and videophiles?
Well just about all of us if we are on this forum, to some degree at least. But j6p will not have a 7.1 (or 7.4) set up. (I heard of a 7.2 but isn't .4 a bit overkill?)
Still, i would love to see more 7.1 features, but most people will not care about that since they will have 5.1 at the most.

I can see how some ppl want the uncompressed audio, but I am a videophile, not an audiophile. Although I love the HD audio, its the video I live for. And the video take up a lot more space and processing power so it should get all it can. Compression on audio is not as obvious as on video to most people.
By using TrueHD, they give you HD audio, so close to the original uncompressed that I am sure it could fool many die-hard audiophiles, plus they give us better video and more extras. The more they can put on he box, the more value people see in it (like extras and games and online content and HD video and HD audio etc...).

I am all behind Sony on this one, it is a great move to promote the format, even though it does present potential problems with compatibility with some set-ups. I am not telling you to go out and buy a PS3, but as the most popular BD player it has no problem decoding these formats. I am sure other players have the same ability, perhaps even better than what the PS3 does. It just means that to get the best HD audio and video, you need to get the best HD set-up of your choice.
