Three things to make you feel more at ease: (even though you've already heard this)
  1. Scream Factory will probably use whatever HD master currently exists for Ginger Snaps, unless its in the same conditions as something like Dog Soldiers and must be corrected.
  2. They only Region Lock because they are FORCED to by their contracts, in most cases.
  3. They do pretty good jobs, so if they do feel the need to create a new HD master, it will probably look fantastic, the people they use are very highly regarded.

Hopefully now you can buy a Region Free player, and the you'll actually be able to get the Scream Factory disc. Until then, why worry?
Well you sound very confident in them and most people sing their praises, so i'm going to remain optimistic. I have looked into getting a region A PS3. That makes the most sense to me and is easy to attach in the UK, apparently. I can't be arsed with all this firmware upgrade meddling bollocks that most region free players force you to do, so a NTSC PS3 is pretty much my only option. And it should be cheap and affordable by now.

I also hope that Ginger Snaps is treated well. However, since it was a very low budget film, I am willing to bet that the quality of the image isn't stunning to begin with.
It's a low budget film, yes, but it was still shot on pristine and (these days) good old fashioned 35mm...the image quality should look fantastic and reveal extra detail and restore the film's colour scheme properly. There is absolutely no reason that Ginger Snaps can't look good on blu ray. As long as the image is faithful to Fawcett's intentions and has good detail, good contrast and good colour, it should look the business, mate.

What are you going to do about it if they do *mess it up* tough guy ?
Just to point out - there is a reason that they have received accolades for best DVD distributor of the year...
Their work has been nothing short of outstanding with their horror titles, the reviews from websites have generally been very positive. I think a ton of members here love what they have done with the titles that they have acquired
What would I do about it? If they were to mess it up, I would boycott Shout! Factory forever, init? Trust me, they don't want to lose customers like me, passionate men who will fork out a lot of money for their favourite film as long as they have properly upgraded it. If they can't even properly give a film in the class of Ginger Snaps a high quality blu ray presentation, then I will seriously go out of my way to discourage people from ever buying their blu rays again. And i'm not talking about extras. I don't care for extras. I'm talking about PQ, and SQ to a smaller extent.

If they are region locked, they are region locked, I will just have to live with it and cough up a few quid for the region A PS3. But hopefully they don't region lock this one.

Just got a late Xmas present from my Uncle. I got some Criterions (Eating Raoul, Repo Man, Videodrome), Robert Rodriguez's book Rebel Without a Crew, a Silver Shamrock t-shirt, and a Troma shirt. Also, the posters for Escape from NY and Matinee.

Default Bad Dreams/Visiting Hours Blu @ Family Video.com

I was looking at Family Video listings for upcoming Scream releases, and noticed they had Bad Dreams/Visiting Hours blu listed for $14.99. I think it is a mistake. I hope they keep that price b/c that is a lot cheaper than Amazon's price.

Yes. He is awesome. Last year, I got Fright Night, Phantasm, Clerks: TAS Complete Series, Darkman poster, and other stuff, which (at the moment) escapes my mind.

You started off so well, and then call TT a scam for charging more because they have 3 titles out of 50+ that you feel should cost less, to use your own words "quit being a cheapskate and appreciate the fact that these titles are being released" Sorry I couldn't resist

All joking aside you're right Scream is a bargain, and I'm really looking forward to their up coming releases.

The thing with Twilight Time is that they don't properly "support" their high prices. If they had a much more robust set of special features on their releases, I think more people would be fine with the higher price point and limited availability.

I think even if they just upgraded their packaging it would be easier for some people to take, something like or close to what Arrow does.

Agreed. Both would be even better in terms of value behind the price point.

Has Scream Factory announced that they will be remastering Dog Soldiers? It seems plausible, but I wouldn't necessarily hold my breath. Confirmation would be great news.

I don't think they've made an official announcement regarding the transfer that they would be using. Scream Factory has reused existing HD masters before, but I'd be a little surprised if they did that with Dog Soldiers.

Movies I watched this weekend on BluRay:

Psycho II
Night of The Comet
Prince of Darkness
Crawlspace
World War Z
Death Ship

I had never seen Crawlspace and I didn't like, it was rather slow and pointless.

The most insane part of Klaus Kinski is that he interrupted the Girls everytime one was about to get naked

I don't mind if they reuse a HD Master that's actually decent, but if they go about reusing masters that are clearly quite shite then they have no business releasing these cult films.

They are doing a new transfer for The Shadow.... I'd say if the transfer is really bad like that one was, DNR and EE (ala Universal), you'll see a new one. It's not a guarantee but the fact Shout/Scream does any sort of new transfer gives a good possibility to one happening...
