All of the Wal-Marts in Jacksonville, FL have pitiful Bu-ray selections. They don't even have shelf space set aside for them, only one four-sided center aisle floor dispaly which is mostly signage. Bad, just bad.

Just as someone else has posted, I can't recall ever buying a bluray disk at Walmart. Their selection just plain sucks. Its either Amazon or Best Buy for the movies I don't want to wait two days for. The Walmart near me (Spring, Tx.) was just reopened as this big brand new design, the Future of all Wal Marts !!! and they have maybe 10 blu titles stuffed in a corner. Future for Wallyworld maybe, but not a future place for me to shop..

At all Wal-Mart locations in the Niagara region, Ontario, there are plenty of Blu-ray titles to pick from.

Two Wal-Mart Supercenters in Lawton carry Blu-ray movies. The problem is the selection just isn't very large. Each store has perhaps a couple or so dozen different BD movie titles and a handful of HD-DVD movies in a separate locked glass case next to locking glass cases holding new DVD releases.

Wal-Mart doesn't even stock "mid-fi" home theater equipment. You can't buy separate home theater components there, such as a halfway decent audio-video receiver. Same goes for separate speaker systems. If someone wants a crappy $99 "home theater in a box" solution, Wal-Mart has more of that kind of thing.

I don't think it is any problem at all for Wal-Mart to avoid stocking Blu-ray players other than the Playstation 3. Wal-Mart is definitely not going to be the avenue that Blu-ray uses to break into the mainstream.

For higher quality electronics most people know well enough they're not going to find what they want at Wal-Mart. They know they have to travel to stores like Best Buy, Circuit City, Frys or independent dealers of good quality electronics. Most will go to those types of stores to look for Blu-ray instead of looking at Wal-Mart.

That's because the players cost only $100. When the same players went back up to $199 they gathered dust on store shelves.

Like I said, they backed the wrong format and are now being stubborn about it. As for the "waiting for it to go mainstream" comment.....you need to have product to sell the product...to make it mainstream...if you are the #1 retail chain in the USA you control it. All the other stores Walmart is in competition with for sales were smart enough to dump HD-DVD stock and expand their blu sections over a month ago and Walmart is waiting until (my source) the end of June to do the same? Seriously weak management decision making, must have some serious turnover and nobody has spine enough to step up a say what needs to be said.
