Yes the BDA and not Scream Factory, it seems that it's so easy to get a region free player that it makes the whole issue irrelevant.

being that you're a big a fan, I'm gonna go with your opinion.... a clean picture with bright vivid colors sounds good to me!!

This is all back door meeting stuff that we will never really know about but kind of fascinating to think about.

Unfortunately, you're probably right about them being at the whim of the major studios. Even TT has been affected by this kind of negotiation as seen in the HTF's interview with Nick Redman a few years ago.

So we take that off the list. Now, we know that they probably won’t ever do anything with that title [laughs] and then we can go back to them in a couple of years and ask for that title. But that's how our list got whittled down to about 100 titles that had not ever been on DVD in the United States. It was basically a list of our favorite films, films that we knew and liked or films that we had always wanted to see on DVD or ones that we thought catalogue collectors would like. It was a real mishmash, a real potpourri of things. It was dangerous to do it that way because when they finally approved our list of 100, we then found out that quite a few of those titles were only available as 4x3 letterbox masters, not 16x9 enhanced. We released Violent Saturday in 4x3 as a test, but consumer response indicated that if a title wasn't in 16x9 it wasn't acceptable. So those titles have to go on the back burner until we figure out what to do.

Really hating all the b****ing going on in this thread. Whatever happened to forming ones own opinion about a movie and not letting your reasoning behind buying or not buying a movie be based on someone else's opinion.

So you think people should throw down their hard earned money for a potentially crappy looking blu ray without first checking out some reviews of the disc just because it bothers you? Is it your money that they are spending? I thought not so you really have no right to cry about it.

Key word potentially...you don't know for yourself if it is or not. You're taking someone else's opinion without really knowing for yourself.

Thanks for that quote, that sucks to have to sit on movies that are basically burning a hole in your pocket.

Sorry if this has been discussed before but how likely will we see Dolls (Stuart Gordon 1987) released in North America on blu ray? It has been released in Japan on blu ray already and it's coming to UK this month too. I would import the Japanese release but it's too expensive.

I would love to know this, too. That movie is awesome.

It's been shot down repeatedly by SF. It's one of my favorite movies, so after a few months I ended up getting the Japanese release. At this point, I wouldn't get a US release unless the extras were something special.

I thought Dolls was better than Dolly Dearest.
That being said, I enjoyed both.

I, for one, am definitely picking up Cat People.
My top Scream Factory release I got this year was The Vincent Price Collection. Really hoping for a volume 2 of this.

And yes, Dolls would be a day one buy if they ever put it out. It's a really under-rated film.

No, we're examining dozens of uncompressed, 1080p screencaps that clearly and completely support the specific criticisms of multiple professional reviewers.

Has there still been no official confirmation from 101 Films on the region-coding and/or extras for Dolls (they did confirm a director's commentary)? I didn't see anything recent on their Facebook page, and they never responded to my email.

In the Dolls thread, someone asked on Facebook if the release would be region locked, and the response was 'most likely'. So, doesn't look too good I'm afraid. If 88 films can do region-free, why can't 101? (I know if probably involves tape, but it's annoying.)
