Having the label slightly offset can happen from time to time and I've seen it with virtually all studios but I wouldn't call it common as in it happens all the time. I think I also have a TT title that's like that as well but can't remember which at the moment.

I believe one individual reported having some playback problems with a disc a year or two ago and SAE replaced the disc for him without any issues. That may end up being more difficult as time goes on especially for titles that are sold out. It would all depend on whether they still have any replacements available.

That's why, with all discs I buy (since the early CD years), I try to listen/watch them closely as soon as possible after I get them. This being particularly true of things like limited editions, where they likely set aside a smaller number for 'defective-replacements'.

I would do that, too, but still got burned by all those Anchor Bay and Media Blasters titles that played fine when new, but several months later, went bad. Especially Media Blasters - it seems like a huge portion of their early genre releases had some sort of issue making them go bad over time - had to rebuy their later repackaged and reencoded 3-packs to replace all the bad discs I had bought from them originally. One of their 3 packs cost less than what I spent for one of their single releases originally so it wasn't a huge amount of money lost, but it was still very aggravating.

I have never had any sort of issue with any Twilight Time release and I own about 20 of their releases.

I received a defective copy of Sexy Beast. Ed at SAE replaced it no hesitation. He let me keep the case, artwork, defective disc, etc. and just sent a replacement in a jewel case.

One of their releases was pressed with a Region A lock, but they replaced those with region-free discs.

I was just curious about it. No problems with TT, I was just wondering how their replacement program was or in the case of OOP/Sold Out was the buyer just SOL.

I believe they hold some extras back for Customer Service stock - though how long after the release is sold out that they do so I'm not sure.

With a few exceptions, the Fox titles are relatively obscure lost-in-the-vault or less well-known catalog fare that fit well within TT's business model self-imposed 3000 limit (a number ported over from the 1990s for sales of limited edition soundtracks). Also, most Sony titles for the first year were priced higher and still are.

Sony USA is the company giving away titles to TT that lead to most of the complaints with their business model. I am also afraid the United Artists and MGM deal is headed in the same direction.
+1, at least for Sony (I'm not familiar enough with TT's MGM titles to concur). That's why when I attacked Oliver! being released thru TT I made it clear that my problem was with Sony, not TT itself; Fox's TT titles fit their business model better than Sony's do.

Having read more carefully a post elsewhere about the specifics of TT's business model -- especially the fact that TT pays the licensing costs for all 3,000 copies upfront -- I suspect some Sony beancounter prefers the certainty of a check from TT over the risk of making, say, 50,000 copies of a catalog title that may or may not sell. Oliver! might have been a bit of a risk, but that didn't keep Sony from issuing it outside the U.S. All the King's Men fits the model a little better, especially with the flop 2006 remake; and with its music angle, even The Way We Were is a little more fitting as a TT release. Still, even though I'm a retired accountant myself (and am now leaning towards buying at least Oliver! & AtKM from TT anyway), that does NOT make Sony's practice right.

Well, so far, the announced MGM/UA titles include Zulu, Khartoum[/i], Wild at Heart, and two of the more popular Woody Allen titles: Crimes and Misdemeanors and Broadway Danny Rose.

And this is surprising, given what Fox is licensing out to TT. Fox has been handling distribution for MGM/UA for several years now, and I've had the feeling that Fox probably has a lot of input into what MGM/UA titles get released. So I'm surprised that TT are getting some prized MGM/UA films.

I have to say, though, that given that Fox is doing some serious back-catalog releases on Blu, I'm surprised by some of the titles they licensed to TT. I would've thought that they'd want to keep titles like The Song of Bernadette, Jane Eyre, Drums Along the Mohawk, and especially Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing in house.

Tested on a Region B player and works. Twilight Time releases are generally Region Free. This release was initially accidentally manufactured as region locked, but reissued as region free. If you have the region locked version you can contact Screen Archives Entertainment for a region free replacement.

After collecting about 20+ TT titles from their blu ray range in the past couple of years, I haven't ordered anything from TT for quite some time, maybe a year almost, mainly as a lot of the titles seem to pop up here in Aus released by another distributor anyway, such as Oliver and Philadelphia etc and they are usually about $10 instead of $30.
I have also discovered Eureka Masters of Cinema in the UK in the past year and bought about 35-40 titles from their range and love there titles and their packaging, booklets etc. and particularly love their free postage worldwide.
That being said there are a few titles I am interested in again with TT, in particular the Sinbad movies and Khartoum, I wouldn't mind getting The Driver also.
However when I look at the cart with 4 movies in it and the total cost is $137.30 including postage of $17.50 to Aus, its hard to pull the trigger, at $34.30 per movie its hard to justify. I understand the business model and that TT needs to make money, I'm certainly not knocking it. As mentioned I have spent well in excess of $550 on TT titles, its just hard when you can buy main release movies for approx. $10 each or less when sales are on here in Aus. In fact with sales here in the past I have picked up about 20+ movies for $137, and main stream, well known releases. So it just feels tough spending that much for 4 movies. I just wish there were more promotions like an occasional buy 3 get one free or free postage worldwide something like that. I hate spending the price of another release just on postage.

Anyway end of rant, I think I will just have to remove one or 2 of the movies from my cart and suck it up and pay the money.

There is suppose to be a promo coming up soon, spend $100 on TT titles, and get a signed copy of Royal Flash , it's something to consider.
