Default Buzzing

Hi there

I had a little search and couldnt find what i was really looking for.

I recently bought a home cinema system for my surround sound and its 5.1 surround and im running the sound through an optical cable from my playstation 3.

The only problem is i keep hearing this buzzing/wavey noise all the way through the films when i watch them, this is also happening when nothing is playing but only when im using the optical cable plug in all other things work fine.

Now i was wondering if anyone would know what it is or what i can do to solve it?

Many Thanks

an Amp could be going bad..... happened in my old Subwoofer... an Amp on the way out, will "Hum" usually..... if it's not "that" noticeable... it could be interference.... someone put up a link with some sort of filter (please post again) Or try a Power-Conditioner.

Keep us updated.

I'll play the part of tech support and ask the obvious dumb question...did you check the cable or try another optical cable to rule out the possibility of a bad cable.

This may seem like a left-field question, but you don't have an Apple Airport Express that you're using for AirTunes and have the audio output plugged into the receiver via analog connections?

If you have another cable, try it.

You could try this if you have cable TV - unplug your incoming coax cable and see if the buzzing stops. Sometimes incoming cable tv lines cause interference.

I asked the question because I have an Airport Express router and had a buzzing sound with it hooked to the receiver via analog cables.

Meaning with the actual optical cable? No, beause optical cables are not susceptible to interference since they use pulses of light.

It's just that I wouldn't have even remotely came up with this type of scenerio.
