I just finished watching this and I honestly have to say that I am torn. On the one hand The Butler has fantastic performances from Forest Whitaker, Alan Rickman, and to a lesser extent Oprah Winfrey. If Daniels wanted to voice his opinions, yes many of his facts are stretched, he could have done that without having to spend the 30 million on this film. I'd highly advise in renting this one first if you are just aching to see it.

I likes the movie and I don't agree with you Daniel was trying to tell 2 stories in one movie the first story was the butler and his life being taught and working as a butler and the 2nd was his son and the civil rights thing. I like how Daniels did this in this movie. So to be honest how many people would sit thru a documentary or a movie with actors?

A director has to decide what they are making before the film is shot. They can't just throw a hodgepodge of scenes together focusing on different things and call that a well made film. That's what short films are for. There's also the fact that Lee Daniels ego is about as large 3 average people's egos and it definitely shows with this film.

It should also send you a red flag that he insisted it be called Lee Daniels' The Butler.

I've seen it in theaters and bought the blu ray I loved the movie I'm sorry if you feel that way but I saw nothing wrong with this. It's a movie get over it

Not to be rude but if u feel like that about lee Daniels then you really don't have to see any of his movies. I will support this guy no matter what

Well, Precious was incredible. This I liked, but didn't think it was as good as it should have been. Probably a 7/10 for me, and I will get it when it's cheaper.

They had to put Lee Daniel's name on the title, because Warners threatened to sue due to the copyright claim they had for the title "The Butler." It's not an ego thing.
