Yesterday was the deadline for underclassmen to declare for the NFL draft, and 97 underclassmen declared, smashing the previous record (from last year) of 75. When the NFL went to a rookie wage scale they hoped it would lead to more players that weren't fully ready for the NFL staying in school since there was less money paid to top picks, but it seems to have backfired because since players can't make huge money initially they want to get in the pros as soon as possible so if they are successful they can get a lucrative second contract. NFL Championship Sunday is going to be good. Being a die hard Pats fan I am going to say they up end Denver in a very close game. Now on paper Denver should win but I feel Coach Belichick has something up his sleeve for Manning. As for the 49ers vs Seattle? Seattle should beat them but I don't know on this one. I don't trust Seattle's offense but their D is lights out and they will be the key to beating the 49ers. Superbowl? Pats Vs Seattle.

The Jets have signed Rex Ryan to a multi-year extension, per Adam Schefter. Ryan was entering the final year of his current deal.

Agreed. I am not a fan of any of these teams, but I cannot wait to see these games. Hopefully Brady will not shrink in the 2nd half like he did in the conference championship last year.

Lions hired Ravens DBs coach Teryl Austin as defensive coordinator.


Austin has never coordinated a defense at the NFL level, but has experience working alongside new Lions coach Jim Caldwell going back to Caldwell's days at Penn State and Wake Forest. The duo is committed to keeping the Lions' 4-3 defense in place, which is an easy decision considering the resources Detroit has invested in its defensive line. Austin has 12 years of experience as an NFL DBs coach, so his first order of business will be sorting out the Lions' muddled secondary. Ex-Bucs DC Bill Sheridan is being interviewed as an assistant.

(CNN) -- For the first time, newly unsealed court documents reveal police directly suggested that former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez may have pulled the trigger in an unsolved Boston double homicide in July 2012.

"There is ... probable cause to believe that Aaron Hernandez was operating the suspect vehicle used in the shooting homicides ... and may have been the shooter," a now-unsealed June 2013 warrant reads.

The warrant was used to search a Toyota 4Runner linked to Hernandez that, according to court documents, was seen at the scene of the crime by witnesses the night of the murders.

Victims Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado were fatally shot in a 2003 BMW. Two others in the car survived.

The warrant sought permission to search the SUV for gun residue. The vehicle was recovered at Hernandez' uncle's home in Bristol, Connecticut.

The search warrant also sought permission to seize a bag of clothing that was found at that home.

It's unclear what was found in the bag and no document detailing what was removed from the house has been released.

Police are looking for clothing and jewelry worn by Hernandez the night of the double homicide, including a baseball hat, a T-shirt, sneakers, and a beaded necklace.

Hernandez is seen on a nightclub video surveillance camera wearing those same items, according to the search warrant, which is partially redacted.

No charges have been filed and authorities have not commented publicly on the investigation.

But as as CNN has previously reported, a grand jury has been looking into whether Hernandez played a role in the drive-by shooting, according to law enforcement sources.

That 2012 shooting is separate from a 2013 killing in which Hernandez is charged and awaiting trial.

Hernandez, 23, was indicted for first-degree murder and weapons charges by a different grand jury in August , 2013, in the shooting death of his friend Odin Lloyd. Hernandez has pleaded not guilty.
