Yep, I'm from Australia and bought my PS3 for $800. Although it came with Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction and an extra controller. Still, without both of those, the price for a PS3 and nothing else was about $700. I bought it since Tools of Destruction on its own is $109 and the controller is $40 on its own and I'd be saving $49.
After paying $800 for it, you'd think the least they could've done with it and 40 gig PS3s in general was include a PS2 emulator. I asked the guy who was selling them and he said they supposedly surveyed quite a few people asking them if they'd want a PS2 emulator included. According to him, they said no. Right.
