One thing I would recommend is turning OFF the Digital Natural Motion feature of that set. If it works like similar technologies in other TVs, it can cause all kinds of icky artifacting as well as weird motion blur.

As mentioned above, definitely CALIBRATE your set.
should i just get that disc to calibrate it

You can start with the settings recommended in the above thread. But yeah, using something like Digital Video Essentials would be even better, as it sort of walks you through the process.

Agreed, and if you've got Netflix or another rental thing going on you can rent it. That way you don't have to buy a disc you're only going to use once.
