im serious - im just trying to figure out where Jordan got all his praise from. Someone mentioned the Wire but was Jordan phenomenal in Fruitville? If that's the movie where he's getting all the praise, then I want to see that film.

I wonder how long Fox has the distribution rights to FF. I don't see why Marvel just couldn't buy the film rights back from Constantin Film. If I were Disney I would buy everything that is Marvel related. I mean it isn't like they don't have the money.

So you're saying you don't see the praise, and then stating that you haven't seen the two most notable performances of his career.... This thread is ridiculous.

Personally I think MJ's is the best of the casting with Bell a close second. I assume they are going for the Ultimate Universe with this one. Never read the comic but understand their origins story is different and they were also younger. I have yet to be convinced on Mara, she is an adequate actress but has not shown the range of her sister. Unfamiliar with the other actor.

I think it's more about the directors familiarity with him since he worked with him in Chronicle. Jordan is ok, don't feel he's been in enough movies to consider him a breakout star, He was good in Friday Night Lights, but there wasn't any breakout performance from him I feel on that show. That being said, I like the castings and look forward to what happens. |

Doesn't Marvel still get a cut of their profits though? I'd actually prefer that someone outside of Marvel has properties. We are getting 4 Marvel related movies this year, 2 from Marvel and 2 from the other studios that have Marvel properties. As fans we get more movies out of the deal. |

The problem is that Fox isn't being consistent. We're not arguing about Johnny Storm's skin color but rather the fact that Johnny and Sue are biological brother and sister. This has been established in the original source material and despite the change in their comic book character origins and evolutions, this has remained constant.
The problem is that Josh Trank's cast have Johnny as a black male and Sue as a white female. While we can all say it's not about race, ultimately it is. I'm also NOT saying that this is about racism it casting an all-white cast, but if you're going to cast one of the Storm siblings as one race or the other, the other Storm sibling needs to be of the same race. I think Marvel and Disney will end up pulling the rights to the Fantastic Four license from Fox because the groundswell of complaints is going to start piling up. Seriously! I'd also like to know where all of this acclaim over Michael B. Jordan came from because before the news that Fox was making a new Fantastic Four movie, I had never heard of this actor before. You would think that if Jordan was so critically acclaimed, that every news media organization and entertainment news channel would be having interviews with the actor, he would be nominated for academy awards, oscars and whatnot. So, what gives? Just because he was in Chronicle? All I hear is how Josh Trank keeps talking Jordan up like he's an academy award winner or something. I hope Trank's Fantastic Four movie goes bust and that Marvel revokes their license to the Fantastic Four property. Oh, and Marvel does have that included as a clause in the license agreement with Fox. |

Maybe I'll start saying: "I don't see the praise for Tom Hanks, I haven't seen Saving Private Ryan, Forrest Gump, Philadelphia, The Green Mile, or any of those. He was pretty forgettable in Da Vinci code so I don't see it." Could MBJ completely ruin this movie? Sure. But he's proven to be a great actor so I think his casting is the best of the four. Anyone who is complaining about him just because he's black needs to realize it's 2014 and the role should go to someone based on acting ability and personality, not skin color. |

Also, are you aware that mixed race families are possible? I know a white man who's sister is black, and I don't go around stating that it's not right. Parents divorce, remarry, and all sorts of things like that. It's not like they cast one as a dog or anything. Johnny's race has never once made any difference to the character. This casting screw-up is the first sign that Fox is more interested in publicity than making a good Fantastic Four movie. I hope it tanks so hard that Fox has no interest in holding onto the FF license. |

My problem with the casting news isn't the actual cast, in fact I like the actors involved, espcially michael b jordan, and I think they have the talent to do well with what's given to them.
My problem is that they're going the ultimate ff/teenager direction, I'm still waiting for a legit fantastic four movie, they still haven't done justice to the original comic. While I don't want to go as far as saying I hope I fails, I just wish marvel had control of these characters. |

I can't argue with the quality of the cast that they have put together, but I still stand by what I said a while back in regards to the Michael B. Jordan casting. I think he's a very solid actor, but casting him is still completely changing a major character. I've basically said all I can say about how unnecessary it is basically forcing him into the role when there are plenty of others that could have done it.
I think the best choice is Miles Teller. He has the look, and he's impressed me in the little I've seen of his filmography so far. Other than Michael B. Jordan, I think Jaime Bell is the worst choice. Not because he's not a perfectly fine actor, but he's tiny. I realize he'll either wear a suit or be all CG, but still, it's strange. |

technically, Fox has nothing to say about whether or not they give it back. There are a number of ways in which Marvel/Disney could revoke the rights to any of the properties that 20th Century Fox has licensed:
1) They go into disuse, as long as the studios continue to use their licenses they have the rights to re-license them, and I think in their contracts with Marvel which Disney must recognize, they are allowed to renew the licenses as long as they don't go into disuse, thus the reason for the companies reusing and rebooting the movies as often as they do, so they don't go into disuse. 2) Disney buys it back from them, which with Sony Picture Studios doing poorly and 20th Century Fox doing "so so" the bucks involved could be very high, supply and demand and all that. 3) The movies fail to meet quality standards. There are likely quality clauses in the contract which states that if the rights holder fails to meet quality standards for the Marvel titles they control Marvel can refuse to renew that title and regain production and distribution control over the title due to the title dragging down the public view of their property's quality control standards. If this clause is in the contract Marvel still controls the standards they can expect the movies to be, and if they feel that the studios are just pumping out crap to maintain their licensing agreements they could choose to terminate the license next time they are up for renewal. * Note: the points listed above I found on yahoo through one of those "Questions and Answers" pages. Also, Disney could up the cost of the license for the properties that Fox has under license. Considering how Fox was just under the wire in regards to making a new Fantastic Four film, if the film does poorly, Marvel/Disney could very well revoke the rights to Fantastic Four. I'm just shocked that besides Daredevil, I'm surprised that Marvel/Disney didn't revoke the rights to Ghost Rider, considering how poorly the sequel performed. Not sure, but isn't it Sony who has Ghost Rider? |

He was "ok". That's it. Imagine a one dimensional cartoon character that punctuated almost every line with some variation of "bra" or "bruh". There was no great acting chops shown there. In fact, the entire film is highly over-rated. If you actually followed the events when they happened, then I'll go so far as to say it's decent. Not great, by any means. |
