Blu Rays with Questionable Color Timing

The color timing on James and the Giant Peach is a strange one that doesn't get talked about too often. There's a dark blue tint over the whole image that I don't think Henry Sellick ever approved.

Oddly, shots in the film that are meant to be dark and in shadow got brightened up. Doing so spoiled the big reveal of the insects and also killed a gag in which the whole gang has fallen on top of each other (though I don't have comparison pics for those).
