Just get speakers that as closely match the front/center channels as possible.

The most important thing here is to not have the rear or side surrounds stand out, you want them to blend in. The easiest way to accomplish this is by getting the same brand - and if possible - the same model/line as your fronts.

I guess that makes sense, but everyone else seems to think only the fronts and center need to match.

it's mostly ambient sounds, bullets, explosions, etc.... trust me... unless you use tiny satellites for fronts, and Apogee Grands for surrounds.... (exaggeration) you're gonna be hard pressed to say "oh.. my surrounds just don't match my fronts" I thought Klipsch made dipoles that were corner fitted.... anyone know of the models of these??? They probably aren't common if they ARE made, because a corner usually isn't the best accoustical placement for most people's rooms, so that type of speaker would cut down on the people who would be able to incorporate it into their rooms.

EDIT... the ones I recommended were dipoles..... you can use dipoles, and if you feel the need to upgrade to 7.1 you can still do so.... but I find 5.1 sufficient (but I have 7.1 go figure)
